How to read this calendar

Dates are the operator’s own target where one exists (for example DMRC, MMRDA or Maha Metro), or the date reported in the press where it is labelled as such. Metro openings often slip: a section first needs trial runs, then a safety inspection by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS), then an inauguration date. We update the calendar as sections open or targets change.

For the full list of operational and planned networks, see metro rail projects in India.
