Mumbai Metro Line 4

Under Construction Operator: MMRDA Length: 32.32 km Updated: Official site ↗

Mumbai Metro Line 4 is a 32.32 km elevated metro line planned with 32 stations from Bhakti Park in Wadala to Kasarvadavali on Ghodbunder Road, Thane, via Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup and Mulund. MMRDA is building it. As of October 2026 no section is open: the first stretch, about 10.5 km from Gaimukh on Line 4A to Cadbury Junction, is on trial runs and awaits CMRS clearance.

Why it matters

Line 4 runs along the Eastern Express Highway and LBS Marg, the main road corridor between the island city's eastern suburbs and Thane, and will be Thane's first metro. With the Line 4A extension to Gaimukh it forms a corridor of about 35 km. It is planned to meet Lines 2B, 5 and 6 and the Monorail, linking Thane to the wider network. Repeated delays to the first section make its opening a closely watched milestone.
