Mumbai Metro Line 2B

Operational Operator: MMRDA Length: 23.643 km Since: 08/04/2026 Updated: Official site ↗

Mumbai Metro Line 2B is a 23.643 km elevated line with 20 stations, planned from ESIC Nagar near D.N. Nagar in Andheri West to Mandale in Mankhurd, via Bandra, BKC, Kurla and Chembur. MMRDA is building it. As of October 2026 it is partly open: Mandale to Diamond Garden, 5.4 km and five stations, since 8 April 2026, with Chembur station added on 13 August 2026.

Why it matters

Line 2B is planned as an east-west link across the suburbs, joining the Harbour line belt at Mankhurd and Chembur with Kurla, the BKC business district and Bandra, and meeting Line 2A at D.N. Nagar. The open eastern stretch already connects Metro, suburban rail and Monorail at Chembur. Its Mandale depot, about 28 hectares, is described as Mumbai's largest. Ridership will stay modest until the line reaches Kurla and BKC.
