Editorial Policy

Metro Rail News is published by Symbroj Media Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi. We have reported on India’s metro rail, railway, RRTS and high-speed rail sectors since 2015, for an audience of metro corporation officials, railway ministry staff, engineers, technology suppliers, investors and urban planners.

This policy sets out how we produce what you read.

Who we are

Editorial responsibility for everything published on metrorailnews.in and in the Metro Rail News magazine rests with the Managing Editor.

Editorial independence

Editorial decisions are made by the editorial team alone. Advertisers, sponsors, event partners and subscribers have no influence over which stories we cover or how we cover them.

Commercial relationships do not confer favourable coverage, and they do not protect an organisation from critical reporting. Our commercial and editorial functions are kept separate.

Where our information comes from

We report primarily from:

  • Official sources — Ministry of Railways and MoHUA releases, PIB statements, Railway Board circulars, parliamentary answers, and metro corporation announcements
  • Tender and contract documents published by procuring authorities
  • Detailed Project Reports, feasibility studies and regulatory filings
  • Direct interviews with named officials and industry figures
  • Our own attendance at industry events, site visits and briefings

Where a figure comes from a specific document or release, we cite or link to it.

Accuracy and verification

Every substantive figure we publish — corridor length, project cost, station count, ridership, timelines — is checked against an official source before publication.

Where budget figures are involved we specify whether we are citing Budget Estimates or Revised Estimates, and whether a cost is gross budgetary support or total capital expenditure. Where a project length is quoted we distinguish sanctioned length from currently operational length, and where a speed is quoted we distinguish design speed from operational speed.

Where a claim cannot be verified, we attribute it plainly to whoever made it rather than presenting it as established fact.

Named and unnamed sources

We name sources wherever possible, with their designation — “DMRC Managing Director Dr. Vikas Kumar said”, not “a metro official said”.

We use unnamed sources only where the information is of clear public interest and the source would face professional consequences for speaking on the record. In those cases we describe the source’s position as precisely as we can without identifying them.

Sponsored and commercial content

Sponsored content, advertorial and paid placements are clearly labelled. Sponsored articles carry a visible disclosure banner and a “Sponsored” marker on the byline, and outbound links within them are marked rel="sponsored nofollow" in line with Google’s guidelines.

Press releases we adapt are published under the Press Release category. We rewrite them in our own words, verify the factual claims we retain, and remove promotional language. Adapting a release is not an endorsement of the product or organisation described.

We do not sell links, and we do not publish paid guest posts that exist to place links.

Use of artificial intelligence

We do not use AI to produce editorial content. Every article published by Metro Rail News is researched, written and edited by our journalists. Responsibility for what we publish rests with the named editors above.

Bylines

Articles carry the name of the journalist who wrote them. Where an article is the product of the editorial desk collectively rather than one reporter, it is published under an editorial team byline.

Corrections and right of reply

We correct errors promptly and visibly, and organisations we report on have a right of reply. See our Corrections Policy.

Our standards on independence, disclosure and conflicts of interest are set out in our Ethics Statement.
