Nagpur Metro is the rapid transit system serving the geographic heart of India, built and run by Maha Metro. It opened in 2019 and has drawn attention for its engineering and its heavy use of solar power, along with a double-decker stretch that stacks the metro above a highway flyover.
The network
The system runs on two corridors, the Orange Line north to south and the Aqua Line east to west, crossing at an interchange in the city centre. The lines total roughly 40 km, mostly elevated, and several stations sit on the double-decker sections that Nagpur became known for. A second phase extends both corridors further into the outskirts.
