Indore Metro

Operational Operator: Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (MPMRCL) Length: 33.53 km Official site ↗

Indore Metro, delivered by Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (MPMRCL), is one of two metros the corporation is building in the state alongside Bhopal. Its Phase 1 comprises a roughly ring-shaped corridor of around 33 km, mostly elevated with an underground segment, serving Madhya Pradesh’s largest city and commercial capital.

The 6 km priority section, connecting the Gandhi Nagar (Super Corridor) area, was inaugurated in 2025, beginning passenger operations, with the rest of the ring under construction.

Why it matters

Indore’s near-circular alignment is unusual among Indian metros, most of which are radial or linear. Combined with Bhopal, it makes Madhya Pradesh a test of running two metro builds in parallel under one corporation – a model for how mid-sized states manage simultaneous transit programmes cost-effectively.
