DELHI (Metro Rail News): Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) recorded 80.54 lakh passenger boardings (80,54,968) on November 2, compared to 72.24 lakh (72,24,094) on the previous Monday, October 26. This represents an increase of approximately 8.3 lakh passengers boardings.
Delhi Metro recorded a massive surge in passenger boardings on Monday, the first working day after restrictions on certain non-BS-VI vehicles registered outside Delhi came into effect on November 1. The increase was attributed partially to the implementation of GRAP Stage 2 restrictions.
The following lines of Delhi Metro measured an upsurge in the passenger journeys, contributing to the total highest number recorded on November 2nd:
| Operational Line of DMRC | Contributing Percentage to the Total Record |
| Yellow Line | 26.4% |
| Blue Line (Vaishali Branch+Noida Branch) | 26.4% |
| Pink Line | 11% |
| Red Line | 10.9% |
| Violet Line | 10.2% |
The recent recorded number is very close to the previously made highest-ever record. In September 2026, following the strike by bus drivers of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), DMRC witnessed the highest-ever single-day passenger boardings of 82.44 lakh on September 1.

Previously, the highest record was calculated during Raksha Bandhan in the current and previous year, as mentioned below for comparison:
| Year | Recorded Passenger Journeys |
| August 2025 | 81.88 lakh |
| August 2026 | 81.01 lakh |
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) serves around 6.4 million passenger journeys every single day. DMRC calculates passenger boardings based on the number of metro lines used by a commuter to complete a journey. For example, if a passenger changes metro lines once to reach their destination, it is counted as two passenger boardings. It was implemented after the year 2019, before that passenger ridership used to be calculated based on the number of times one enters and exits the metro premises.
Steps taken by DMRC to facilitate the surge of passenger journeys
DMRC has introduced 20 additional train trips over and above the 20 trips already operational since the implementation of GRAP Stage I in October 2026, making it a total of 40 additional train trips currently active for serving the people turning to metro services amid recent restrictions.
According to The Indian Express, the DMRC has made additional passenger facilitation arrangements at the stations of the metro network to avoid the last-minute hassle because of passenger congestion at peak hours.
