Noida Metro: Ayesa India Wins DDC Contract of Aqua Line Expansion

NOIDA (Metro Rail News): Noida Metro Rail Corporation Limited (NMRCL) has announced Ayesa India Private Limited as the lowest bidder for the DDC contract of Aqua Line extension. The contract involves providing DDC service for Civil, Architectural and E&M works among others.

NMRCL invited bids for the contract with 1825 days. Technical bids were opened on October 3 revealing that three firms had submitted bids for the contract.. The technical evaluation of the submitted bids took place on December 5 and on the same day the financial bids were opened. Following the financial evaluation, Ayesa India was announced as the lowest bidder for the contract.

Vossloh Cogifer Turnouts India Receives LoA for Track Work Contract of Delhi Metro Phase 4 Corridors

NEW DELHI (Metro Rail News): Vossloh Cogifer Turnouts India Private Limited has received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) for the track work contract, which involves the supply of UIC-60 turnouts, scissors crossovers, and other essential track components required for various corridors under the Delhi Metro Phase-IV project.

DMRC invited bids for this contract with a 730 days deadline. Technical bids were opened on 21October 2025 announcing that 2 firms have submitted bids for the contract. Technical evaluation of the submitted bids occurred on 27 Nov 2025. Financial bids were opened on the same day and financial evaluation of the bids occurred on 4 Dec 2025. During the financial evaluation round one firm bid was rejected and Vossloh Cogifer Turnouts India was declared as the lowest bidder for the contract and received LoA for the contract from DMRC.

RVNL Bags Rs.145.35 Cr Contract from Southern Railway

Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL) has received a Letter of Acceptance from Southern Railway for executing a traction power project in the JolarpettaiSalem section of the Salem Division. The contract includes establishing traction substations, power quality systems, and associated control and monitoring infrastructure.

Contract Value: Rs.145.35 Cr 

Contract Duration: 540 days

Contract Scope of Work: The scope includes design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of Scott-connected traction substations, power quality equipment, switching posts, a 2×25 kV feeding system, and SCADA and automatic fault locator systems in the JolarpettaiSalem section of the Salem Division.

Recently, North Eastern Railway also declared Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) as the lowest bidder for upgrading the existing overhead equipment (OHE) system in Lucknow division.

The contract includes the design, supply, erection, testing & commissioning of OHE modification and feeder wire work of 2×25 kV traction system for capacity upgradation of UTR-MWP section (184 RKM/368 TKM) in Lucknow division of Northern Railway,”

Central Clears DPR Surveys for New Railway Links in Andhra Pradesh

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced in Lok Sabha that surveys have been sanctioned to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for several new railway lines which aim to improve connectivity in Andhra Pradesh region.

The approved new routes include:

  • Machilipatnam to Narsapur (74 km)
  • Repalle to Bapatla (46 km)
  • Gudur and Vijayawada (4th line measuring 293 km),
  • Vijayawada bypass (Indupalli-Duggirala – 49 km)

Additionally, a survey has been approved for a proposed 45.3-km railway line between Machilipatnam and Repalle to offer a more direct and shorter link between these towns. The Ministry of Railways has confirmed movement on the long-pending railway link between Machilipatnam and Repalle in Andhra Pradesh. Residents of Diviseema and Avanigadda have been seeking this connection for many years. Surveys have now been approved to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR). The update was shared in the Lok Sabha by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in response to a question from Machilipatnam MP Vallabhaneni Balashow.

Addressing a question from Machilipatnam MP Vallabhaneni Balashowry, Minister Vaishnaw mentioned that “The survey is underway for the sake of preparation of a DPR,”

The Union Minister said Machilipatnam and Repalle were already connected via Vijayawada Junction on the existing railway network, and the doubling of Machilipatnam-Gudivada-Vijayawada line had been completed recently, and it would improve the connectivity to Machilipatnam port. As reported by The Hindu.

Mr. Vaishnaw stated that as of April 1, 2025, a total of 39 projects, comprising 12 new railway lines and 27 doubling works,covering 4,498 km across Andhra Pradesh have been sanctioned at an estimated cost of ₹70,231 crore. Out of these, 1,179 km of track has been commissioned, with ₹28,039 crore spent up to March 2025.

BEML Ltd Secures Additional ₹414 Cr Order from BMRCL for Six More Driverless Metro Trainsets

BEML Limited, a leading multi-sector engineering and manufacturing enterprise under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has secured an additional order worth ₹414 crore from the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). Under this expansion, BEML will supply six more driverless metro trainsets (36 cars) for the Bangalore Metro Rail Project, Phase 2 (Reach 5), increasing the total order from 60 trainsets (360 cars) to 66 trainsets (396 cars).

The new trainsets will seamlessly interface with the Siemens signaling system and will operate on the Yellow Line corridor, further enhancing the capacity and efficiency of Bengaluru’s evolving urban mobility network. The BMRCL Management has once again placed its trust in BEML, recognizing the company’s proven capabilities in delivering dependable and future-ready mobility solutions for the city.

Designed and developed entirely at BEML’s advanced engineering facilities in Bengaluru, the state-of-the-art driverless trainsets feature a robust six-car configuration made from high-tensile Austenitic stainless steel, offering superior structural strength, safety, and durability. Each car is equipped with two roof-mounted saloon air-conditioners, ensuring optimal comfort and a modern travel experience for passengers.

This latest order is an extension of Contract 5RS-DM, originally awarded to BEML in August 2023 after competitive global bidding. The base contract, valued at approximately ₹3,177 crore, includes the design, manufacturing, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and comprehensive maintenance of the metro trainsets for up to 15 years.

The upcoming trainsets will integrate advanced technologies, including IP-based Passenger Announcement and Passenger Information Systems, a Passenger Saloon Surveillance System (PSSS) for enhanced onboard security, LCD-based Dynamic Route Maps, and electrically operated automatic doors synchronized with Platform Screen Doors to ensure greater safety and operational efficiency. Pune Metro Phase 2 Expansion Receives Approval from Union Cabinet

PUNE (Metro Rail News): The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given its nod to the expansion of the Pune Metro Rail Project under Phase 2. The approved project includes the construction of Line 4 and an associated Spur Line 4A. 

The approved Line 4 spans 25.52 km connecting Kharadi to Khadakwasla via Hadapsar and Swargate through 22 elevated stations. Spur Line 4A will cover an additional 6.12 kilometres between Nal Stop and Warje-Manik Baug, featuring six elevated stations. Collectively, the two corridors will extend 31.64 kilometres and comprise 28 stations.

Funding for the project will be collaboratively provided by the Government of India, the Maharashtra state government, and various bilateral and multilateral funding agencies. Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha-Metro) will oversee the entire implementation, including all civil, electrical, mechanical, and systems-related work.

The sanctioned project carries an estimated cost of INR 9,857.85 crore (approximately USD 1.1 billion) and has a planned construction timeline of five years following approval.

This expansion will link the eastern, central, and western zones of Pune, integrating key residential and commercial hubs. It aims to offer commuters more reliable travel options while enhancing connectivity across the city’s primary growth corridors.

UPMRC Plans to Expand Metro Network to 1,575 km by 2047

The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has announced an ambitious plan to develop a massive 1,575 km  metro network across Uttar Pradesh by 2047. The comprehensive blueprint was unveiled by UPMRC Managing Director Sushil Kumar during the “Viksit Uttar Pradesh for Viksit Bharat@2047” seminar.

The initial phase focuses on expanding metro systems in the state’s three established metro cities, with 225 km planned for Lucknow, 200 km for Kanpur, and 100 km for Agra. 

Beyond these, the plan proposes 150 km networks for Noida-Greater Noida, Varanasi, and Prayagraj each. Key districts including Gorakhpur, Ayodhya, and Meerut are slated to have 50 km metro networks.

Approximately 790 km of this metro infrastructure is targeted for completion by 2035. Kumar emphasized the financial viability of the project, stating that the state government’s annual contribution for the initial 525 km expansion would be Rs 1,040 crore.

 He also highlighted UPMRC’s strong operational track record, noting their existing metro systems are already benchmarks for efficiency and performance.

Bangalore Metro: BMRCL MD Inspects Baiyappanahalli Depot Remodeling Works

BANGALORE (Metro Rail News): Bangalore Metro progressed as Dr. J. Ravishankar, IAS, Managing Director of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) inspected the ongoing Baiyappanahalli Depot remodeling works on 28th November 2025.

Accompanied by Directors, the Executive Director, and other Senior Officials, Dr. J. Ravishankar reviewed the civil works at the Stabling Bay line and Entry Deck Structures for the upcoming Phase-2A Project. While commending the progress, the MD directed the engineering teams to maintain steady progress and meet the established deadlines.

In September 2016, the government announced the development of a new 18-kilometre corridor called the Blue Line, connecting Silk Board to K.R. Puram. This corridor is included in the project as part of Phase 2A.

BMRCL prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed corridor and submitted it to the state government on October 28, 2016. The State Cabinet approved Phase 2A on March 1, 2017, followed by the Central Government’s cabinet approval in April 2021.

The estimated cost for Bangalore Metro Phase 2A is ₹5,227.35 crore. The project is financially supported by various international funding agencies, as well as the central and state governments.
