GURUGRAM (Metro Rail News): Gurugram Metro Project achieved a new milestone with the successful lifting and installation of the first 160 tonne U-girder near Cyber Park on Friday, 28 August 2026. Haryana Industry and Commerce Minister Shri Rao Narbir inaugurated the programme after performing the puja.
The U-girders were installed using 400 tonne and 600 tonne hydraulic cranes, following the technical and safety standards. The U-girders are manufactured at the dedicated precast casting yard in Sector-33, Gurugram. Each U-girder is approximately 28 metres long and 5.05 metres wide.
These U-girders will form the superstructure of the metro viaduct, over which metro tracks will be laid. Each girder is made out of around 16 tonnes of reinforcement steel and 60 cubic metres of M-60 grade concrete.
The girders are transported using an approximately 40 metre long multi-axle trailer and puller. Installation involves detailed route planning, traffic management and comprehensive safety arrangements

The Minister said the milestone marks the beginning of a new phase of the project at the ground level and reflects the Haryana Government’s commitment to strengthening Gurugram’s public transport infrastructure.
About Gurugram Metro Corridor
The Gurugram Metro Corridor spans 28.5 km, and it will connect Millennium City Centre Gurugram to Cyber City, with a spur to Dwarka Expressway, with a total of 27 stations. It is being executed in two phases.
Phase 1 of the Gurugram Metro project involves a 15.22-km elevated corridor with 14 stations running from Millennium City Centre to Sector 9 and Sector 101, including a 1.85-km spur to the Dwarka Expressway and Phase II, from Sector 9 to Cyber Hub corridor will have 14 stations and will almost 13 km long. Work on both Phase 1 and Phase 2 will be carried out simultaneously to help the authorities complete the projects faster.
