Corrections Policy

Metro Rail News reports on infrastructure procurement, project costs and official timelines. Our readers include the corporations and ministries we write about, and they act on what we publish. When we get something wrong, we want to know, and we correct it openly.

How to report an error

Email editor@metrorailnews.in with:

  • The article headline and URL
  • The specific statement you believe is incorrect
  • What the correct information is
  • A source we can verify it against, where you have one

You can also call +91-114-059-0405.

What happens next

  • We acknowledge correction requests within one working day.
  • Where the error is clear and verifiable, we correct it immediately on receipt.
  • Where a claim is contested or needs checking against source documents, we investigate and respond within three working days.

How we correct

Factual errors. We correct the text and add a dated correction note at the foot of the article stating what was wrong and what it now says. We do not silently edit a published fact.

Correction, 12 March 2026: This article originally reported the corridor length as 82 km. The sanctioned length is 82.15 km. The figure has been corrected.

Significant errors. Where an error materially changed the meaning of a story — a wrong contract value, a misattributed award, an incorrect approval status — the correction note appears at the top of the article, and we update the headline if the headline itself was wrong.

Typographical and formatting fixes. Spelling, punctuation and layout corrections that do not change meaning are made without a correction note.

Updates to developing stories. Where a story develops after publication — a tender date moves, a project reaches a new stage — we add a dated update. An update is not a correction, and we label it as an update so the distinction is clear.

Removal. We do not unpublish articles because a subject dislikes the coverage. We remove content only where there is a legal requirement or a genuine risk of harm, and we say so where we do.

Right of reply

Organisations we report on may respond to our coverage. Where an organisation disputes our reporting and provides evidence, we will either correct the article or publish their response alongside it.

Where our reporting is critical of an organisation, we seek their comment before publication and include their response, or note that they declined or did not respond by our deadline.

Corrections in the magazine

Corrections to the Metro Rail News print magazine are published in the following issue, and on the web version of the article where one exists.
