MUMBAI (Metro Rail News): To improve the services of Mumbai Monorail, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is planning to introduce two more rakes, which are under repairs, into service by the end of June 2019.
MRDA official said that with the two extra rakes, we may be able to increase the services, but our focus is on improving the existing services. Currently, punctuality is a little over 90%; it needs to be 100%. We will be able to improve their maintenance schedule, which would lead to fewer glitches said, official.
The MMRDA has 10 monorail rakes, of which one was damaged in a fire in November 2017. After seven are made operational, two will continue to require critical spares. According to the sources, the authority is still taking a call on whether to make the two operational.
“The two are as good as a shell because their parts were used in other rakes to ensure operations were not affected during the time when we had an issue with spare parts,” an MMRDA official said. The lack of spare parts plagued Monorail operations for months and the first lot arrived in April. buy antabuse online https://lasernailtherapy.com/wp-content/themes/twentytwentytwo/inc/patterns/en/antabuse.html no prescription
The MMRDA is also procuring 10 new rakes for which it has already floated tenders. “The rakes will take over a year after the tender is finalized. The first one takes the longest to build and test. Once the first one is given the green light, the rest will follow soon after,” an MMRDA official said. Sources said companies like Hitachi, Bombardier, CRRC and BYD had expressed interest before the tender was floated.
The MMRDA is also looking at improving the seating facilities at stations and constructing toilets.
“These should have been done by the contractor. In December 2018, the MMRDA terminated its contract with LTSE, a joint-venture of Larsen and Toubro and Scomi Engineering, owing to contractual failures” MMRDA officials said. Scomi was also barred from bidding for the supply on the new rakes, an official confirmed.
DELHI (Metro Rail News): The Government of Delhi didn’t send any proposal for giving free Metro rides for women to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) or the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) so far, Union Minister of MoHUA Hardeep Puri Said on Thursday.

He has a ₹50,000-crore budget. The budget is not being spent on sanitation, Ayushman Bharat, etc. But, he wants to give a ₹1,200 crore or ₹2,000-crore subsidy. There should be a debate on this. The BJP, we are all for women. But schemes are not made like this, that first, you announce and then make the proposal. We have not received any proposal, nor has the DMRC,” he said.
Calls them disruptions
Mr. Puri was referring to the Delhi Assembly elections, which are expected early 2020, and the Lok Sabha election, in which AAP was at third place in the majority of Delhi’s seven seats. He said he had written several letters to the Delhi government about various projects, but the AAP dispensation had not used the funds allocated in time.
“Arvind Kejriwal has a problem of a different kind. He will take out a full page advertisement saying something is starting in two or three months, but the proposal has not even been made,” he said.

BANGKOK (Metro Rail News): The Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed an agreement to provide a financial package of 9.9 billion Thai baht (equivalent to the US $311 million) for the construction and operation of the Yellow and Pink lines of Bangkok’s mass rapid transit (MRT) system.
Mr. Christopher Thieme, Deputy Director General of ADB’s Private Sector Operations Department said that Bangkok is one of Southeast Asia’s global business hubs depends on relieving traffic congestion and increasing sustainable public transport services.
“ADB’s support will accelerate commercial financing for Thailand’s MRT sector and help to provide a better choice of affordable and efficient public transport rapidly growing population.”
“ADB’s involvement as a lender enhanced the overall bankability of the project by providing a long tenor repayment profile. It will provide more flexibility on cashflow management and help mitigate ridership risk at the opening stage of the project,” said Mr. Terence C. K. Kong Executive Director and Deputy Chief Executive Officer, BTS Group Holdings Public Company Limited. “This enables us to deliver a successful project and a public transport option that will be efficient, safe, and environmentally friendly.”
The agreement was signed by Mr. Thieme and Mr. Kong, at a ceremony in Bangkok.
The agreement was signed by Mr. Thieme and Mr. Kong, at a ceremony in Bangkok. Senior officials from ADB and BTS Group Holdings Public Company Limited also attended the event.
ADB’s financing package is comprised of two B 4.95 billion loans to the Northern Bangkok Monorail Company Limited (NBM) and the Eastern Bangkok Monorail Company Limited (EBM) for the construction and operation of the two new lines. These will add to the five existing lines currently operating in Thailand’s capital area.
The Pink Line, under NBM, will operate between Min Buri district in Bangkok and Khae Rai in Nonthaburi province, with a total length of about 34.5 kilometers (km). EBM’s Yellow Line will operate between Lat Phrao in Bangkok and Samrong in Samut Prakan province with a total length of about 30 km.
Bangkok is famous for its heavy traffic congestion with some studies including it among the most congested cities in the world. The proportion of travelers using mass rapid transit as a share of total transit in Bangkok remains low as compared with peer cities. The number of private cars in Southeast Asia has more than doubled since 2000, and 30 million more passenger cars are expected to be added by 2040. The new lines will help cut down on air pollution from vehicles and greenhouse gas emissions while tackling traffic congestion.
NBM and EBM are special purpose vehicles established by BSR Joint Venture (BSR) to operate the Pink and Yellow MRT lines, respectively. BSR is a joint venture comprising BTS Group Holdings Public Company Limited, Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction Public Company Limited, and RATCH Group Public Company Limited.
DELHI (Metro Rail News): Ayesa, a Spanish multinational which specializes in engineering, technology, and consultancy (ETC), has bagged a 311 crore contract to provide technical assistance (General Consultancy) for India’s first rapid rail line, which will run between Delhi and Meerut.

The aim is to improve the transport system in New Delhi and the Delhi metropolitan area, one of the world’s largest with a population of around 57 million.
The Delhi-Meerut corridor is one of three corridors that the Government has established as a priority, although the plan involves eight lines in total. With an allocated budget of 3.8 billion euros for its construction, the system is expected to be operational in 2025.
NCRTC team with NCRTC Team
This new contract is yet another achievement for Ayesa, following the recent signing of a contract with NCRTC to design four of the elevated stations for this corridor (Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar and Duhai) as well as 2 depots.
‘After having participated in various Metro Rail projects, these two contracts are further testimony to our position as a leading engineering company with outstanding technical expertise in the field of transport in India. The focus of the company on establishing a local and permanent presence in the country ten years ago has resulted in continued growth and contracts which are increasingly more extensive and diverse’, explains José Luis Manzanares Abásolo, CEO of Ayesa.
DELHI (Metro Rail News): In view of Delhi Assembly elections, Delhi Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal has announced free Delhi Metro and DTC bus rides for women in National Captial at a press conference. The expenses of the free ride scheme will be borne by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal said that the scheme to provide free Delhi Metro and DTC rides has been announced so that women have safe travel experience in Delhi.
HIGHLIGHTS
The expenses of the free ride scheme will be borne by Delhi govt
The scheme was announced so that women have safe travel experience in Delhi, Kejriwal said
Arvind Kejriwal said that the free ride scheme is optional.
It will cost 1600 cr for 1 year.
He further said that on all DTC buses, cluster buses and metro trains, women will be allowed to travel free of cost so that they have safe travel experience and can access modes of transport which they were not able to, due to high prices.
Some of them think it’s a good initiative for women and senior citizens, while others are saying that the Delhi government’s decision is completely unjustified and defies Gender ‘Equality’.
Freeride scheme is optional
CM Arvind Kejriwal Clarifying that subsidy will not be imposed on anyone, free ride scheme is optional.
“There are several women who can afford these modes of transport. Those who can afford can purchase tickets, they needn’t take subsidy. We encourage those, who can afford, to buy tickets and not take subsidy so that others could benefit,” CM Arvind Kejriwal added.
Delhi government would bear the expense, around Rs 1,600 crore for the year. He added that the decision has been taken keeping the safety of women in mind. It would take about three months for the rollout of the scheme.
Although, the scheme is just a proposal and has not been launched yet. Arvind Kejriwal said he has given a week time to the Delhi government officials to make a detailed proposal to both DTC and the Delhi Metro.
two – three month to implement
“I’ve given one-week time to officials to make a detailed proposal – for both DTC and metro – on how and when can this be implemented. We’re making an effort to start this within 2-3 months. We’re also seeking suggestions from people, regarding implementation.” he said.
CM Arvind Kejriwal Said” Initially, we had told the Centre not to increase the price of tickets, they didn’t agree. We told them we’ve 50-50 partnership, let’s give 50-50 subsidy on raised prices, they didn’t agree. Delhi government will bear the fare of what we’re going to do. We needn’t take approval for this”
The proposal to make Delhi Metro and DTC ride free were made on Sunday to encourage the women to use public transport.
Delhi Transport Minister Mr. Kailash Gahlot has already taken meetings to discuss various aspects of fare-waiver to women in all public transport buses – run by DTC and DIMTS – and Delhi metro said Delhi Officials.
Difficult to implement in Metro
“Allowing free travel in Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and cluster buses run by the Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal System(DIMTS) may not be difficult, it will be “challenging” to do so in Metro trains”, a transport official said
The Delhi government and the Centre are 50:50 equity partners in the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.
Not the first of its kind
The ‘free’ public transport isn’t new and the movement is gaining a lot of supporters worldwide. Countries like Luxembourg are planning to set aside the fee in an attempt to make a green push. Cities like Dunkirk in France and Tallinn in Estonia are already providing free commuting.
MUMBAI (Metro Rail News): The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC), which is executing the Metro 3 corridor seeks permission to cut trees in Aarey for construction of Metro Coach depot. Their applications are pending with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC), tree authority, which has not been functional since October 2018 owing to a Bombay high court (HC) stay. buy symbicort online blackmenheal.org/wp-content/languages/new/us/symbicort.html no prescription
In October 2018, High court restrained the tree authority from taking any decisions on cutting trees until it has independent experts as nominated members in the authority. The BMC has four experts on the authority and 15 corporators. Although In February 2019 the BMC got 37 applications for the tree authority, 32 got rejected.
“The way the BMC called for advertisements was wrong. Candidates are rejected as the civic body put a condition that the experts must be residents of Mumbai. The court has clearly stated the committee must have an equal number of corporators, who know the city, and experts.” said Zoru Bhathena, a petitioner in the case and activist.
JV Pardeshi, superintendent of gardens, BMC, said close to 70-80 applications are pending since the stay. When asked if the BMC will issue an advertisement to call for experts again, he said, “It will be as per the high court orders.”
The rolling stock for Metro line 3 is expected to be delivered by November 2020 As the MMRC had awarded contracts for the rolling stock of 248 coaches in September 2018.
Also, It will take two years to construct the car depot where the rolling stock will be brought.
According to the source, if the depot is not ready on time, there is a high possibility that the rolling stock will remain at the manufacturing unit. The completion of the project on time is now subject to the car depot. Rolling stock is tested for close to six months before the commercial operations begin.
With legal hurdles, the MMRC had already revised its deadline for phase-1 (Aarey-Bandra Kurla Complex) of the underground corridor from December 2020 to June 2021.
The project has faced numerous hurdles owing to litigation from environmental groups and citizens against the MMRC’s plan to cut trees to build the car depot within Aarey Milk Colony, Mumbai’s green lung.
In addition, an earlier stay by the Bombay high court, disallowing construction work between 10 pm and 6 am, also slowed down construction.
The MMRC had earlier estimated that a delay of one day would cost Rs 4.5 crore to the exchequer.

The project is expected to be completed by 2023. The announcement was made after the 65th Board Meeting of the YEIDA, which manages the development of region along the 165-km-long Yamuna Expressway
They said while one would be an exclusive Airport Express Line — with no stations between Knowledge Park-II and the airport, the other would go through residential, commercial and rural areas along the Yamuna Expressway.
The Govt. has started the process to hire a developer for the airport at Jewar in Greater Noida, which is expected to become the National Capital Region’s second airport and take the load off Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport once completed. The second airport in the National Capital Region, along the 165-km Yamuna Expressway, is expected to be operational by 2022-23.
According to the detailed project report (DPR) submitted by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, the project is expected to witness a daily ridership of 82,000, which is not economically viable as per the traffic projections. As per the DPR, it requires a daily ridership of over 1.6 lakh for the project to become viable.
Arun Vir Singh, CEO, YEIDA, said that they cannot hold on for the correct traffic projections. “We need to build a Metro Link from Greater Noida’s Knowledge Park-II to Jewar airport site by 2023 when the airport is expected to become operational. We are not bothered about economic feasibility because we need to a build Metro link to provide connectivity to more than 21,000 residential plot allottees, who are likely to shift to sector 18 and 20,” Singh said.
“Also, we have to ensure Metro connectivity for passengers travelling to Jewar airport from Greater Noida via an Airport Express Line,” Said Mr. Singh.
“the YEIDA will prepare a proposal on funding pattern of the two Metro links in collaboration with the Noida Metro Rail Corporation. The proposal would be sent to the UP government for a final decision”, said, Officials.
Out of total 35.64 km Metro line, 33.27km will be elevated and the remaining 3.37km stretch till Jewar airport will run underground along Jewar-Sikandrabad road. The link will have 25 Metro stations, excluding the airport station. buy antabuse online https://pavg.net/wp-content/themes/twentytwentyone/inc/en/antabuse.html no prescription
The proposed stations are: Greater Noida’s Knowledge Park-II, Chi-I, Chi-II, Chi-III, Chi-IV, Gautam Budh University, Night Safari, Murshadpur, Yamuna Authority’s sector 26A, Noida International University, Galgotia University, Sector 17A, Sports City, sectors 22A, 22B, sector 18A, sector 22C, sectors 19, 18, 2, 20, 21, 28, 29, Nagla Hukum Singh and Jewar airport.
This project will branch out from the existing Knowledge Park-II station on Aqua Line of the Noida-Greater Noida Metro line and terminate at Jewar airport. Earlier, this link was planned between Greater Noida’s Pari Chowk and Jewar airport.
KOLKATA (Metro Rail News): The trial run on the underground corridor of Kolkata East west metro corridor started on 31 May 2019.
In 1994, The last time a train had entered a new underground station was MG Road.
Kolkata East-west Metro Route Map
Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation (KMRC) is the implementing agency for the 16km long East-West Metro corridor from Sector V to Howrah Maidan through the Hooghly riverbed. Although commercial operation between Sector V and Salt Lake Stadium is expected to start at June-end or early July and train services to Phoolbagan could be introduced around October 2019.
The trial run’s extension to Phoolbagan got a shot in the arm on Tuesday when the Union electrical inspector general granted permission to electrify the third rail beyond Salt Lake Stadium station. Work to electrify the third rail began on Wednesday and took two days to link it up to Sealdah East. buy cenforce online https://nouvita.co.uk/wp-content/themes/twentynineteen/fonts/en/cenforce.html no prescription
KMRC considers this an achievement because of the possibility of extending East-West Metro’s commercial run to Phoolbagan ran into a hurdle as Schneider Electric, the company providing the key equipment for power connection along the tracks between Salt Lake Stadium and Phoolbagan stations, was planning to ship the cargo from China. It would have taken 45 days for the equipment to reach Kolkata, which would have pushed back the Phoolbagan extension to December.

Lokmanya Nagar Metro Station
Lokmanya Nagar metro station connects the semi-urban and rural parts of Nagpur district to Nagpur city. This station will serve as the gateway to Hingna, where several educational institutions and industrial units are located.
Subhash Nagar Metro Station
Subhash Nagar station will serve as a disembarking point for fun-lovers, owing to its proximity to Ambazari lake, which is one of the beauty spots of the city. Both the stations, like others in Reach-III, have ‘Aqua Theme’, as the alignment is adjacent to Ambazari lake.
Walkway
A glass segment will be installed on metro route pillars from Subhash Nagar. It will serve as a walkway from Subhash Nagar to Dharampeth College. While walking down the 730-metres long walkway and enjoying the beautiful scene of Ambazari lake, people can enjoy food as there will be a restaurant, relaxing zone, and shops etc.
Security
Fifty CCTV cameras will be installed at each of the stations to ensure tight security even at night. Besides, Lokmanya Nagar and Subhash Nagar stations both will have escalators, elevators, lifts, baby care rooms, tactile flooring for visually impaired people, and ramp for physically challenged persons. Wheelchair access will be there for wheelchair-bound passengers.
“Maha Metro had earned Rs 18 lakh since launching the operations on Wardha Road route. So far, 1.50 lakh passengers have travelled in metro train” Said Mr. Dixit. Once all the stations become operational, the ridership will increase, he said.
Replying to a question, Dixit said that the work had slowed down for three months during the Lok Sabha elections as many labourers had gone to their native places. Now that they are returning, the work is gaining momentum again, he added.
The Phase-I of the project would be completed by the middle of the year 2020 and Maha Metro was in a comfortable position in executing the work, he said in reply to another question. The work of under-bridge at Jaistambh and Loha Paul will be started soon, he added.
As far as the work of demolishing the flyover in front of the railway station was concerned, he said that it would be taken up once the construction of proposed mall where existing shop-keepers would be shifted was started.
The construction of mall can be started only after getting possession of the lands of Madhya Pradesh bus stand, school, and Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation. Asked about summer heat this year, Dixit said that it had helped Maha Metro as solar energy generation was good.
The station-wise generation of solar power is as follows: Khapri — 67.92 kw, New Airport — 112.45 kw, South Airport — 132.275 kw, Airport — 172.80 kw, Metro Bhawan — 273 kw. Mahesh Kumar, Director of Maha Metro; Shivmathan, General Manager (Finance); Anil Kokate, General Manager and other officers were present prominently during the trial run.
