Full Span Girder for Maharashtra section of Bullet Train Project

(Metro Rail News): Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project (MAHSR) advanced as National High-Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL) cast the first full-span Pre-Stressed Concrete (PSC) Box Girder for the Maharashtra section of the alignment.

Full-span pre-cast box girders will be launched using heavy machinery, including:

  • Straddle Carrier
  • Bridge Launching Gantry
  • Girder Transporter
  • Launching Gantry

 About Casting Yards developed for the MAHSR Project 

To ensure the uninterrupted supply of girders for the viaduct, 13 casting yards have been developed along the alignment in Maharashtra between Shilphata and the Gujarat-Maharashtra border. 

Out of 13 casting yards, 3 casting yards have become operational. 

  • The 2 casting yards have been developed for segment casting and the other one for full-span box girders. 

Updates on the Gujarat section 

The Gujarat section’s viaduct construction has been completed 255 km so far. The viaduct has been constructed using the same technology since April 2021.

Further Information 

The construction of the substructure and superstructure, including piles, pile caps, piers, and pier caps, is advancing rapidly to facilitate the construction of the viaduct. Simultaneously, dedicated casting yards have been established along the alignment to produce full-span and segmental girders.
