(Metro Rail News): The electrification work for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor has officially commenced. The first two steel masts have been erected on the viaduct between Surat and Bilimora stations in Gujarat which stand 14 meters above ground level.

Scope of Work
A total of over 20,000 steel masts, ranging from 9.5 to 14.5 meters in height, are planned to be installed along the corridor. These masts will form the backbone of the Overhead Equipment (OHE) system, which includes:
- Overhead wires
- Earthing systems
- Fittings
The complete OHE system will operate on a 2×25 kV overhead traction configuration. The system is designed to support the operation of high-speed trains along the corridor.
Manufacturing and Compliance
In line with the “Make in India” initiative, the OHE masts are being manufactured domestically. These Mast adhere to Japanese standard designs and specifications to ensure compatibility with high-speed rail requirements.
