KANPUR (Metro Rail News): Both the casting work of the track slab and tunnel construction are progressing at a fast pace in the Chunniganj-Nayaganj underground section under Corridor-1 (IIT-Naubasta) of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project.
1 km Long Tunnel Completed
Making significant progress in this direction, track construction work has been completed in the ‘up-line’ of the approximately 1 km long underground tunnel between Bada Chauraha and Nayaganj Metro Station. Track construction work in the ‘down line’ of this stretch is also nearing its end.
Track Laying
With the completion of the track construction work between these two stations, the process of laying the rail track between Chunniganj and Bada Chauraha will also be started within the coming few days.Like the elevated section, ballast-less track is also being used in the underground section of the Kanpur metro.
Advantages of Ballastless Tracks
For this, the process of laying, welding and casting the track slab after lowering the rail (track) in the underground station has been going on for some time. Ballast-less track requires minimal maintenance and also has a long life cycle.
Ground-breaking Innovations
A Mass Spring System has been used under the track to absorb vibration and noise. Along with this, arrangements have also been made to install Derailment Guard and Third Rail.
