NASHIK (Metro Rail News): The Ministry of Railways asked the District Collectors of Nashik and Dhule to pace up the land acquisition for bringing connectivity to Malegaon via Manmad-Dhule-Indore rail line.

Malegaon is the only city in India that has over 5 lakh population but has no access to railway lines. The Central Government is trying to bring connectivity to the state, helping the residents get an easy transit option that will reduce dependance on single mode of transport and decrease the longer travelling time taken during longer journeys.

In Malegaon taluka, the farmers of the land oppose the authorities taking away their land and say that the compensation is low as compared to the market value. The farmers demand enough payment that profits them. Because of the constant denial by the farmers, the land acquisition across Malegaon is at standstill.

According to The Economic Times, Ravindra Bharde, the Deputy Collector for Land Acquisition in the Nashik district, acknowledged that the Malegaon taluka has been facing delays in land acquisition because of the farmers not willing to give up their lands. And, that the issue has been communicated with Dada Bhuse, the Cabinet Minister of Maharashtra.
