NMRC started a toilet facility for transgenders at Aqualine Metro Stations

NOIDA, INDIA (Metro Rail News): Noida Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (NMRC) announced to provide the facility of toilets at the stations of Aqualine to the transgender people engaged with the NMRC. The announcement was made on the occasion of Transgender day. On the event, ‘The Toilet for all’ without having any restrictions on identity, ability and gender etc.

NMRC also made changes in the toilet signages and provided extra utility services like the foldable tabletop. Noida, Metro has overall 21 toilets, including the regular toilets, as metro stations are spread across different networks. According to the MD, NMRC, Ritu Maheshwari, toilets prevent gender discrimination against transgender people. She stated that designated existing toilets must be accessible for transgender people on a very priority basis. Moreover, toilets also contain bilingual signages to guide transgender people. DMRC, in collaboration with Bharat Electronics, launched the prototype of indigenous Rolling Stock Driver Training System (RSDTS)

NEW DELHI, INDIA (Metro Rail News): DMRC, along with Bharat Electronics Limited, today launched an indigenously created Rolling Stock Driver Training System (RSDTS) prototype. Bharat Electronics Limited is also the Co-partner in its development. It is a preeminent step as it would lead to the indigenization of technologies that involve network operation.

Moreover, both DMRC and Bharat Electronics Limited Today demonstrated the working and functioning of the Super Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA). The system will monitor equipment and assets to rationalize the workforce requirement, maintenance periodicity, and spare management.

The secretary of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and the chairman of DMRC, Durga Shanker Mishra, launched the RSDTS system and witnessed its functioning too as the Super SCADA system. Titagarh Wagons is the only bidder for leasing trains for Chennai Metro Phase-II Project

CHENNAI, INDIA (Metro Rail News): Titagarh Wagons is the only firm interested in renting trains for the Chennai Metro phase II project.

Chennai Metro Rail Ltd. (CMRL) will buy trains and lease them through a phase II project. The lease program was finalized because they had to cut costs significantly as project costs were surprisingly high initially.

From Rs. 88,000 crore, the cost is estimated at Rs.80,000 crore. However, the Center wanted CMRL to see how it could be reduced. After months of negotiations, project costs were reduced to Rs. 61,843 million.

One of the things that helped CMRL reduce costs was renting trains instead of buying everything. It was decided to purchase 288 coaches (96 trains) and employ the remaining 126 trainers (42 trains).

All Phase II project trains will have three trainers and will eventually be expanded to six as needed. CMRL has been finalizing tenders to purchase 288 trainers.

In addition, CMRL has been invited Expression of Interest (EoI) by hiring coaches for the past few weeks.

CMRL officials plan to ask a few more companies in the sector to find out why they were not interested, get their response and issue another EoI.

CMRL officials warn against false recruitment campaign

CHENNAI, INDIA (Metro Rail News): Today, Chennai Metro Rail Ltd. (CMRL) said it had not yet authorized anyone, firm, or agency to hire it.

‘We have seen some unscrupulous and unauthorized organizations publish false news on social media and other forums about job opportunities in the CMRL. As a result, CMRL distances itself completely from the campaign to recruit fake people,” the statement said.

According to CMRL, all the people CMRL eventually employs are always required to undertake a formal CMRL selection process. In addition, all appointments are made through a rigorous selection process depending on the submitted entries.

BHOPAL, INDIA (Metro Rail News): Chief Minister of Bhopal declared that the Bhopal metro will start functioning by September 2023 and laid the foundation stones for eight metro stations. During an event, Chauhan state,” Now Bhopal can also be called as Metro City Bhopal, just like the way it is called as, “Green Bhopal”, “Clean Bhopal” and “Hi-tech Bhopal”.

Moreover, the Prime Minister of India recently launched Rani Kamlapati Metro Station in Madhya Pradesh. The Metro rail, which will start from September 2023, will benefit lakhs of people of Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh has well-coordinated between the interest of the poor section of society and the dimensions of development. Chauhan remembered and appraised the late Babulal Gaur’s efforts to bring the Metro Rail Project to Bhopal. Chauhan also asked for three appeals from the public present in the event. The first appeal is- everyone must play their part in being a responsible citizen by protecting the environment and planting at least one tree in a year. The occasion for planting can be one’s birthday, marriage anniversaries etc. He stated that the greenery and beauty of the state would increase with the planting of trees. No one should be involved in those activities which destroy the public property of the state.

In his second appeal, he requested people to take care of their help in the backdrop of the corona. He asked everyone to get vaccinated and maintain mutual distancing from one another. He also announced that the state is also providing a subsidy of around Rs. 2100 crore.

In the beginning, Manish Singh, Principal Secretary, Urban Development, announced the construction work of eight metro stations from today only. This part will connect the old and new cities from AIIMS to Subhash Nagar. The project is aimed at increasing Civic convenience as well as the protection of the environment.

MPMRCL is implementing the metro project in Indore and Bhopal. The two metro corridors of 30 Km are being built in Bhopal, one from AIIMS to Karond Square and Bhadbhada square to Ratnagiri Square.

Suspension of Metro Services between Central Secretariat and Rajiv Chowk on November 21

NEW DELHI, INDIA (Metro Rail News): Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (DMRC) announced on Friday that on November 21, the metro services on Yellow Line between Rajiv Chowk and Central Secretariat would remain suspended for a few hours. The reason provided by DMRC for such suspension is that the authority must undertake the scheduled track maintenance work.

DMRC, in a statement, proclaimed that the scheduled maintenance work would start on the intervening night of November 20,21. That’s why train services will be briefly regulated on November 21.

CMRL announces the installment of flood-proof doors in three subways

CHENNAI, INDIA (Metro Rail News): For the first time, Metro rail has taken the initiative to install flood-proof doors to the pedestrian subways, which are connected to some underground stations, to prevent the entry of rainwater into the stations. As per the official statement, the doors are placed near the Government Estate, Anna-Nagar East Stations, AG-DMS. However, due to this, the metros will remain shut for some time for the general public.

Apart from the water leaking problem, the Government Estate Metro Station also faces the waterlogging issue as the rainwater enters the station. Recently, the forecast issued by the government of heavy rainfall made the government install the doors at all the entry points of the two subways linked to the Government Estate Metro Station.

According to the official reports, CMRL is also planning to install the same doors at Saidapet station. Moreover, a small bund is also built-in front of the subway’s entry point to prevent rainwater from flowing inside. The bund is temporary and will be removed once the rain stops. The doors would be used again and again during the rainy season to prevent underground seepage.

MPPTCL dedicates three grid stations to Metro Rail Project in Indore

MADHYA PRADESH, INDIA (Metro Rail News): The Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Limited (MPPTCL) announced to dedicate its three grid stations to the Metro Rail projects of Indore. The extra high-tension power of 220/132KV will be in the Depalpur, Jaitpura and Mangalia areas.

According to the officials of the MPPCTL, in the first phase of the metro rail project, grid stations will be upgraded and connected to the three substations. MR 10, Gandhi Nagar and Khajrana are the new proposed Substations for the Indore Metro Rail Project. MPPTCL spokesperson Shashikant Ojha stated that these new substations would get a bulk supply of power from the extra high-tension grids of Mangalia, Jaitpur and Depalpur.

As per the MPPTCL and Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation agreement, the newly constructed grid will be dedicated to the metro rail projects. He also proclaimed that MPPTCL had received a massive demand of 40MVA from MP metro rail corporation limited for each substation planned under the project.

BMRCL’s airport line work to resume in three months

BANGALORE, INDIA (Metro Rail News): The work on the Namma metro connecting Kempe Gowda International Airport is going to resume in three months. The contract has been given to Hyderabad based NCC-Ltd, formerly known as Nagarjuna Construction Company Limited. According to the official statement by Anjum Parwez, Managing Director, BMRCL, the stretch is going to meet the deadline of 2024.

Parwez stated that the letter of agreement was handed over to NCC ltd. on Wednesday. There is a three-division of the phase 2B line, and all are assigned to the NCC. The contract involves the construction of an elevated line of 38.44 Km from KR Puram to the International Airport. The total cost of the project is 2,200 crores. The opening of tenders got delayed due to the pandemic situation for the last one and a half years. The project got approval from the Union Cabinet in April. The metro project, along with the Outer Ring Road Line, got the total approval of 14,788 Crore. Five companies qualified for the technical bidding round, which started in June. As NCC emerged as the lowest bidder, that’s why financial bid has been offered to NCC. Moreover, still, there is a wait going on for the consent of the Asian Development Bank, which is the funding agency for the project. 

Previously, NCC has done the Civil works for BMRCL to complete the Phase two line from Yelachenhalli to Silk Institute, which was inaugurated on January 15, 2021.

According to the Official statements, the three divisions in the project are:

  1. 11Km stretch covering Homavaru, Kalyan nagar, Nagawara, Benigalahalli to Baiyyapayanahalli.
  2. 11.67 stretch covering Jakkur Cross, Hebbal, Yelahanka and a Bagalur Cross.
  3. !5 Km line covering Bettahalasuru and Doddajala stations

The ending stations at Airport City and KIA Terminal is the responsibility of BMRCL at the cost of Rs. 800 Crore within the premises of the airport and the Bangalore International Airport Ltd. is required to reimburse it.

Telangana Govt. is all set to start the LRTS project shortly

ANDHRA PRADESH, INDIA (Metro Rail News): Telangana Government made a public proclamation to bring Light Rail Transit System (LRTS). The New LRTS will run from Kukatpally Housing Board to the Kokapet Route. Moreover, the LRTS will also help in smoothening the connectivity between Hitech city and Financial District.

The proposal was put forward for the Elevated Bus Rapid Transit System (EBRTS) as a connecting link between KPHB to Financial District. But LRTS became the most suitable option per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

The Hyderabad Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (HUMTA), in coordination with the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL), is preparing a project report on the onboard project of LRTS. Still, the final report is assumed to be finalized by the end of the month. Meetings are held on the draft report by Arvind Kumar, Special Chief Secretary, MAUD. Road accidents, pollution, usage of private vehicles are expected to decrease with the project’s coming.

Tender invited to complete the remaining work in Chennai Metro Phase-I Project

CHENNAI, INDIA (Metro Rail News): The first phase of the ongoing Metro rail project in North Chennai was inaugurated in February 2021, but some construction parts, including plumbing, are still incomplete. Incomplete construction is also responsible for seepage in some stations during the monsoon.

Chennai Metro Rail Ltd. (CMRL) hired a new contractor to complete the remaining Work, including six-two underground stations and six elevated stations on the 9 km stretch from Washermen pet to Wimco Nagar. The total cost of the construction is around Rs. 3,770 crores. The tenders are out again for 20% of the remaining architectural, plumbing and structural Work. According to official statements, many contractors faced an inadequate workforce and a shortage of funds which hampered their work. This implied that the amount given was too more minor than the actual amount which needed to be transferred.

The added amount will be utilized in paying to the new Contractor who will resume the Work.

The Work for the new Contractor is many like the closure of the staircase, entry-exit points in elevated stations, toilets, roofs, waterproofing of the roofs, floor slabs etc. 

Inspection of the new metro stretch between Kavi Subhas to Salt Lake

KOLKATA, INDIA (Metro Rail News): The newly constructed metro stretch between Kavi Subhas and Salt Lake sector five stations was inspected by the Manoj Joshi, GM, Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation (KMRC), and other senior officers of the metro railway. Mr. Joshi was also accompanied by Amit Roy, executive director, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL).

RVNL is the implementing agency of the other metro’s projects of the city. Still, Metro Railway is the umbrella organization that looks after the proper execution and operation of the city’s rapid transit system. Moreover, a new section of 5 km between Hemanta Mukherjee station to Kavi Subhas terminal will also join Kavi Subhas with Airport passing through New Town and EM Bypass. Most of the track laying is over on the 5 km stretch even the work at some stations like EM Bypass, JM Nandi is about to get their finishing touches. However, at the Avishikta crossing, a gap of 120m is required to get filled for the full functioning of the metro to get started.

The main investigation points were the rake-reversal arrangements and the interchanging points between the two segments of the Kavi Subhas Metro Stations and the New Garia station near the Eastern Railway. Kavi Subhas is a significant terminal as it is the meeting point between the north-south line and the New Garia -Airport line. The officials later inspected other metro stations like Satyajit ray, JN Nandi, Kavi Sukanta, Salt Lake, Beliaghata, Sector V Stations etc. Moreover, Joshi also discussed the action plans which is needed for bridging the discontinuities of the viaduct.
