CHENNAI (Metro Rail News): M.A. Siddique, I.A.S., Principal Secretary / Managing Director of Chennai Metro Rail Limited inspected the Project works in the Phase II of CMRL project between Poonamallee and Saligramam on 14 June 2022.
T. Archunan, Director (Project), CGMs, S. Ashok Kumar (Track and Elevated Construction), Rekha Prakash (Planning and Design), Senior Officials and Staff of CMRL were also present during the inspection.
Viaduct Works are on full swing at Poonamallee Bypass Road, Kattupakkam. During the inspection, the Managing Director visited the Casting Yard at Kollapancheri, Poonamallee Taluk in Thiruvallur District wherein the Managing Director inspected the U-Girder works, Pier Cap works and Quality Lab.
Work is underway to construct the 2.3 km Viaduct from Kumananchavadi junction to Karayanchavadi on the road between Poonamallee and Porur. Following this, the work of erecting Piers in the Kattupakkam area is also in full swing. Steps have been taken to complete all these works on a war footing basis.

A 7.94 km long metro rail line is being set up on Corridor 4 between Poonamallee and Porur. There are currently 111 Piers erected along this route. In addition, 342 Piers will be erected along this route. All these works between Poonamallee and Porur are being carried out at a cost of Rs. 1,147 crore.
