Bengaluru Metro’s 2 corridors to add 44.65 km and 31 stations
Bengaluru Metro Phase 3 comprises two corridors connecting residential areas and employment hubs across western and southern Bengaluru.
| Corridor | Route | Length | Stations |
| Corridor 1 | JP Nagar 4th Phase-Kempapura | 32.15 km | 22 |
| Corridor 2 | Hosahalli-Kadabagere | 12.50 km | 9 |
| Total | 44.65 km | 31 |
A common maintenance depot for both corridors is planned at Sunkadakatte. Sumanahalli Cross will serve as an interchange between the two Phase 3 corridors of Bengaluru Metro.
The proposed network will also connect with existing and upcoming Metro lines at locations including JP Nagar, JP Nagar 4th Phase, Mysuru Road, Peenya and Kempapura.
BMRCL seeks ¥102.48 billion JICA loan
The Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA) loan, that has been asked for from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), is ¥102.48 billion. The demanded loan will cover the architectural, construction and other necessary associated costs of the Phase 3 project.
However, BMRCL will take up the significant portion of the funding while the loan covers only an aspect of the project cost. JICA’s guidelines will be in attention while consulting and procuring the funds, the BMRCL official acknowledged.
252 metro coaches, additional proposed services to better up the service
Once the contract gets sanctioned, 252 new metro trains will get exported. The organisation that wins the contract will take care of everything from designing and building the trains to sending, setting up and testing the vehicles for safety while providing the lifetime benefit of 15 years for repairs.
Additional benefits like safety signals to control the trains, enhanced communication, Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system, power stations to meet electricity demands and associated requirements are also highlighted under the proposed plan.
Bengaluru Metro’s Orange Line will influence majorly congested routes of the Outer Ring Road West, Magadi Road, and other major arterial roads of the city by tackling chaotic traffic volume better.
