PANKI (Metro Rail News): The upgraded Panki Dham Railway station is scheduled for its official public dedication following the completion of its ₹25 crore modernization project under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS). Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will virtually dedicate the modernized station to the nation on July 17, 2026, while simultaneously inaugurating 75 redeveloped railway stations across India under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
The station has been upgraded with a 12-meter-wide Foot Over Bridge and a 6-meter-wide FOB(Foot over bridge), complemented by a 4,500 sqm circulating area featuring distinct entry and exit points, parking, green spaces, and accessible movement for all passengers. The newly upgraded station features a 20-foot-wide ramp and barrier-free access pathways designed for differently-abled and elderly passengers. The station houses standard ticketing counters, waiting restrooms, drinking water facilities, and a planned layout with dedicated entry/exit gates. Moreover, the station section between Tundla and Panki Dham is actively equipped with Kavach 4.0, Indian Railways’ automatic train protection system.
The temple-themed station with internal wall spaces and waiting halls features artwork, murals, and religious iconography dedicated to the history of the Panchmukhi temple, which is the highlight of the redeveloped station.
Panki Dham Railway Station is the fourth-largest railway station in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. It operates under the North Central Railway (NCR) zone and primarily serves the industrial suburbs of Panki and western Kanpur. The station was originally established in 1981 under the North Central Railway (NCR) zone. It helps to distribute passenger traffic from heavily concentrated Kanpur Central station and helps in easy access to Panchmukhi Shri Hanuman Temple for thousands of devotees.
