Kolkata (Metro Rail News): The construction work of Victoria Metro Station is progressing swiftly. Recently, The L&T team successfully completed the construction of the first 170 metres of the planned 709-metre diaphragm wall (D-Wall) at Victoria Station. The remaining work is expected to conclude in four months. Following the completion of the D-Wall, the excavation and construction of station slabs will begin. Preparatory work, including barricading the construction area, has already been completed.Â
For the tunnelling work on the stretch from Khidderpore to Park Street, two Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) will be deployed from the Khidderpore launching shaft. The construction of this launching shaft, located inside the St. Thomas School premises at Khidderpore, is currently underway.
Victoria Metro Station
The Victoria Metro station is located on the Kolkata Metro’s 18.47 km long Purple Line. The station will be 325-metre-long in length and the platform level will be situated at a depth of 14.7 metres below the surface. This station is going to be oÂne of the major stations of Purple Line which will be the gateway to the Maidan area of Kolkata.
