After the train set is ready, it will be sent to the Surat depot for testing and trial runs. The Surat depot is being developed by the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL).

Vaishnaw said to ANI that, “Our bullet train project is progressing rapidly. The first section of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train will begin operation next year”

As per the report by News18, the high-speed train is expected to enter service at the 47 kilometers Surat-Bilimora section of the corridor from August 2027. After the opening of the Surat-Bilimora section, the rest of the corridor will be gradually commissioned in phases. Subsequently, following the Surat-Bilimora section, Vapi-Surat and Vapi-Ahmedabad sections will follow, followed by an inter-state extension from Ahmedabad in Gujarat to Thane in Maharashtra.

The Ahmedabad-Mumbai high-speed rail project will be India’s first high-speed rail corridor. Designed with the Japanese Shinkanshen technology, the bullet train has a design speed up to 350 kmph and operational speed of 320 kmph. The bullet train will reduce the travel time of Ahmedabad to Mumbai, covering the 508 km distance in 1 hour 58 minutes.
