Patna ( Metro Rail News): Patna Metro Phase 1 progressed as Larsen & Toubro ( L&T) TBM achieved Tunnel Breakthrough at Patna Junction Shaft. This was the 3rd TBM breakthrough achieved for Package PC-03 by L&T.

As per the Press Release, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Bihar Sh. Nitish Kumar and the Hon’ble Minister for Urban Development and Housing, Government of Bihar, Sh. Jibesh Kumar and DMRC’s managing director, Dr. Vikas Kumar, were present on the occasion.


About TBM
The TBM is a 6.65-meter-diameter Earth Pressure Balance (EPB) machine, manufactured by China Railway Construction Heavy Industry Co. Ltd. (CRCHI). It successfully passed factory acceptance tests in the spring of 2023 and was subsequently delivered to Patna in July.
For its first Assignment, TBM constructed a 1.7 km tunnel between Gandhi Maidan and Patna Junction Shaft.
Package PC-03
In December 2021, L&T grabbed 8 km Package PC-03 from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) at Rs.1989 crores with a 42-month deadline.
The scope of work under this package includes the construction of twin tunnels between Rajendra Nagar and Patna Junction Railway Station through 6 underground stations.
