AHMEDABAD (Metro Rail News): National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has informed that more than 90 per cent of land which is required for the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project has been acquired. The project is spread across Gujarat, Maharashtra and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
The total land requirement for the project is 1,396 hectares out of which 1,260.76 hectares of land has already been acquired, NHSRCL informed. According to a release shared by NHSRCL, in Gujarat 98.79 per cent of the land has been acquired whereas in Maharashtra 71.49 per cent of land has been acquired till now.
As per details shared by the NHSRCL in a release, 98.79 per cent of the land required for the project in Gujarat has been acquired, while in Maharashtra, 71.49 per cent of land has been acquired. In Dadra and Nagar Haveli all the 7.90 per cent hectares of land that is required has been acquired.
According to NHSRCL, the construction works are in different stages on the eight stations for the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project in Gujarat, and 100 per cent contracts have been awarded for the construction on the 352-km route in the state and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. There will be 12 stations on the route of the bullet train, of which eight will be in Gujarat and four will be in Maharashtra and its control centre will be located at Sabarmati in Ahmedabad. There will be three depots for this project which will be built at Surat and Sabarmati in Gujarat and Thane in Maharashtra.
While appreciating the achievement of acquiring over 90% of the land required for Mumbai – Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project, it is pertinent to Note that while over 98% of Land has been acquired in Gujarat, only around 71.50% of land has been acquired in Maharashtra and there is a long way to go as the process of acquiring Land in Maharashtra is comparatively slow. Though the Bullet Train is between Mumbai & Ahmedabad, we do not know, when it will start or terminate at the Mumbai Station. If, further land acquisition is likely to be delayed for any reason whatsoever, the concerned Authority must concentrate to implement the Project on whatever the land they have acquired so far, so as to make the project operational for the benefits of the Travelers/Passengers.
