MEIL – HCC bags contract to construct BKC Station of MAHSR

MUMBAI (Metro Rail News): Hindustan Construction Company and Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd. in a JV bags the contract to construct Bandra Kurla Complex Station of the 508.17 km Mumbai – Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR Bullet Train) on 28th December.

Cut and cover construction will be used to construct this terminus station of the 1.03 km long Package C1 between chainage -0.255 and 0.775. Six 425m-long platforms will be located within the 467m-long station space to handle 16-coach bullet trains.

In July 2022, India’s National High-Speed Rail Corporation Ltd. (NHSRCL) floated bids for the civil construction of BKC Station, with an undetermined budget and a 1638-day (4.48-year) target completion date. In November, technical bids were opened, revealing four bidders.

The brief scope of the project includes the Design and Const. of Civil and Buildings Works on a Design-Build Lump Sum Price basis for Double Line High-Speed Railway for Mumbai Underground Station, Cut and Cover Tunnel and Shaft-1 from MAHSR Km. -0.255 to Km. 0.775 at BKC in Maharashtra.

The station box will consist of 3 levels – service floor, concourse and platform at a depth of 24m below ground level.

A tunnel boring machine (TBM) retrieval shaft must be built on the eastern end by the BKC Station’s designated contractor. Therefore, the underground voyage of the TBMs’ for Package C2 will end here.
