Thrissur: Assuring that the Kochi metro works were not affected by the demonetisation measures, E Sreedharan, principal advisor to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, said here on Friday that the first phase of Kochi Metro Rail Project would be commissioned in March 2017, followed by the second phase in June.
Sreedharan said the demonetisation measures would boost the economic growth of the country, despite the inconvenience caused in the initial stages of its implementation.
“The decision to withdraw the currency notes with higher denominations will bring out counterfeit notes in the country which will definitely reduce the anti-national activities,” he told the media after presenting the corporate social responsibility project of the South Indian Bank, ‘SIB Scholar’, to 42 students selected from across the state.
Advising the students to always follow discipline, he urged them to prove themselves worthy of the scholarship and reach the heights in their desired career path.
As per the SIB scholar, an amount of Rs 4,000 would be given to the selected students every month for their education, in addition to the remittance of course fees after presenting the bill of payment.
