TAMIL NADU (Metro Rail News): A detailed Feasibility Report (DFR) for the recommendation of the Mass Rapid Transport System (MRTS) from Poonamalle to Parandur via Thirumazhisai & Sriperumbudur was submitted by Thiru. M.A. Siddique, I.A.S., Principal Secretary to Government, Managing Director, CMRL to Thiru. Ramesh Chand Meena, I.A.S., Additional Chief Secretary, Special Initiatives, Government of Tamil Nadu at Secretariat, Chennai on Thursday, 4th Jan.
Thiru. T. Archunan, Director (Projects), Thiru. T. Livingstone Eliazer, Chief General Manager (PP & D), and other Senior Officials of CMRL were present during the occasion.
Proposed Salient features of Detailed Feasibility Reports (DFR) for recommending MRTS from Poonamalle to Parandur via Thirumazhisai & Sriperumbudur is as follows.
- Total length Corridor: 43.63 km
- Tentative No. of Elevated Stations: 19Nos
- Approximate estimated Completion cost: Rs 10,712 Cr
CMRL recommended the above considering the recent developments such as the proposed New Airport at Parandur, the proposed Bus Terminus at Thirumazhisai and future growth potential along the Corridor. Following extensive alignment study at the DPR stage, the total number of stations and details of land requirements will be finalised.
