Agra (Metro Rail News): On 13 August 2024, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) emerged as the lowest bidder to carry out the civil construction work of package AGCC-07 of Agra Metro Line-2.
Area of work
The AGCC07 contract incorporates several key components:
- Entire Viaduct Construction for Line 2: This includes building a complete elevated viaduct with 14 stations along Line 2 and a 530-meter viaduct leading to the Kalindi Vihar Depot.
- 2.61 km Viaduct Extension: This section will extend from the north of the Sadar Bazar Metro station to Line-1’s PAC Depot.
- Inclusion of AGCC-06 Scope: The AGCC07 contract also integrates the work initially assigned to the AGCC-06 package. This change happened because UPMRC decided to scrap the AGCC-06 package, so its tasks were added to the AGCC07 contract.
Bidding Process
In December 2023, UPMRC floated the tender to construct Package AGCC-07 with an estimated cost of Rs. 1529.29 crores and a 24-month deadline.
Technical bids for the AGCC07 package were opened in March 2024 to reveal 6 bidders, and bid evaluation was completed last week to reveal 4 bidders that had qualified in the technical round.
Financial Bid Values
Firm | Bid (Rs. Crore) |
Larsen and Toubro Ltd. (L&T) | 1466.49 |
Dilip Buildcon (DBL) – Evrascon JV | 1667.81 |
NCC Ltd. | 1695.48 |
Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. (AIL) | 1784.51 |
Funding
The European Investment Bank (EIB) will finance AGCC-07 with a €450 million loan.
L&T’s bid of ₹1,466.49 crore was ₹62.79 crore (4.11%) less than UPMRC’s estimate of ₹1,529.29 crore. Because L&T’s bid came in below the estimate, the contract is expected to be awarded in the coming weeks without a lengthy financial bid evaluation.
Agra Metro Line 2
The 15 km Line 2 of the Agra Metro will link Agra Cantonment with Kalindi Vihar through 14 elevated stations. Agra College station will serve as the interchange station between Line 1 & Line 2 offering seamless connectivity.
