Despite its significance, the Metro 3 has garnered a lot of negative publicity in recent times over its plan to construct a car shed in Aarey Colony.
The decision, which entails the felling or transplanting of nearly 2,700 trees, has been opposed by activists and citizens. However, MMRCL wasted little on felling a majority of trees after the Bombay High Court dismissed petitions opposing the move.
The case is currently in the Supreme Court, with the next hearing scheduled on October 21. However, MMRCL has already cut about 98 percent of trees required to construct the car shed.
