Pune Metro Line 3

Under Construction Operator: Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited (Tata Realty and Siemens SPV) under a PMRDA concession; operations and maintenance by Keolis Length: 23.3 km Updated: Official site ↗

Pune Metro Line 3 is a 23.3 km elevated line with 23 stations from Maan in the Hinjewadi IT park area to the District Court at Shivajinagar via Wakad, Balewadi and Baner. PMRDA is building it through a PPP with Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited. As of October 2026 it has not opened: the 12-station Maan to Balewadi section, cleared by CMRS on 23 July 2026, awaits inauguration.

Why it matters

Hinjewadi is one of Pune's largest IT employment hubs, and its road links through Wakad, Baner and Aundh are among the most congested in the city. Line 3 gives this belt its first rail link to central Pune, with interchanges to the existing Purple and Aqua lines at Shivajinagar and District Court. It is also the first metro line in Maharashtra built and run by a private concessionaire under a PPP model, making it a test case for future corridors.
