NEW DELHI (Metro Rail News): On February 5th, 2024, Shri Vivek Kumar Gupta, a member of the 1988 batch of the Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE), officially took on the role of Managing Director at the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL).
The Gati-Shakti Program
Before his current position, he held the Principal Executive Director/Gati-Shakti role at the Railway Board within the Ministry of Railways. In this role, he coordinated the operations of seven departments: Civil (Works, Project Monitoring & Station Development), Electrical (RE), Signal & Telecommunication, Traffic, Finance, Planning, and Economic Directorates.
Only the combined efforts of these departments played a crucial role in planning and implementing numerous projects in line with the PM Gati-Shakti program.
Successful Track Record
While serving as Chief Engineer at Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation (MRVC), he was pivotal in orchestrating projects like MUTP I/MUTP II and MUTP III, with a total expenditure nearing Rs 20,000 crore. Additionally, he led the preliminary efforts for the MUTP 3A initiative, valued at around Rs 34,000 crore.
