Uttar Pradesh allocates Rs. 1,150 crore Metro rail projects

Kanpur metro project has been allocated Rs. 585 crore, whereas Agra metro project has been allocated Rs. 465 crore

LUCKNOW (Metro Rail News): The state budget has allocated Rs. 1,150 crore for the ongoing and upcoming Metro rail projects in Uttar Pradesh, which aim to enhance public transportation infrastructure. 

State Finance Minister, Suresh Khanna, announced that the Kanpur metro project has been allocated Rs. 585 crore, whereas Agra metro project has been allocated Rs. 465 crore. In addition, Rs. 100 crore has been granted for DPR on other metro projects, including Varanasi and Gorakhpur.

UMTCL(Urban Mass Transit Company Limited) and RITES (Rail India Technical and Economic Service) are preparing a comprehensive mobility plan on higher-density routes and alternative analysis report (AAR) for the DPR. The Kanpur metro project, which involves the construction of two corridors, has a total cost of Rs. 11,068 crore, according to official sources.
