LUCKNOW (Metro Rail News): Uttar Pradesh Metro’s three-day warm clothes collection and donation drive ‘Odha Do Zindagi’ in collaboration with ‘GOONJ’ came to an end on 31st December 2020 at 12 noon. UPMRC Managing Director Mr Kumar Keshav handed over the collection boxes to Dr Raveesh Srivastava, a Goonj volunteer.
The handing over took place at Krishna Nagar Metro Station in the afternoon with many senior officials of UP Metro in attendance. UPMRC has taken full responsibility of transportation of the sealed boxes from Lucknow to Delhi, from where the collected clothes will be distributed to the underprivileged.
The people of Lucknow have given an overwhelmingly positive response to this drive and generously donated their sweaters, jackets and other winter clothing in the drop boxes kept at Munshi Pulia Metro Station and Krishna Nagar Metro Station.

“I feel deep gratitude towards the people of Lucknow city for having shown such compassion and generosity towards our collection drive by donating clothes in large numbers. It is not just the warmth of clothes, but also the warmth of heart that Lucknow people have shared with the lesser privileged. I take pride in the fact that UPMRC has always stepped up to perform every social duty with utmost dedication, this time being no different,” said Mr Kumar Keshav, MD, UPMRC.
It is to be noted that the boxes were kept at the entry gates of Munshi Pulia Metro Station and Krishna Nagar Metro Station. People could come and donate clothes conveniently without any human contact and strict safeguard measures pertaining to Covid-19 were undertaken.
