Bhopal: Construction work of much-awaited Bhopal metro rail project will take off in August. The civil work for first two routes of the 95.3 km metro rail project is expected to begin from February 2017 and completion deadline is stated as 2020-21, according to state government estimates.
First phases of the project, some 26 km, will connect Karond to AIIMS Bhopal (14.
3 km) and another to link Bhadbhada to Anand Nagar (12.34 km). Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) funding to Bhopal metro is around Rs 7,000 crore.
On Monday, senior urban administration and environment department (UAED) officials and metro rail consultants to review JICA experts’ queries. A delegation of JICA is scheduled to visit Bhopal and Indore from May 11.
