VISHAKHAPTNAM (Metro Rail News): On Friday, the state cabinet nodded for the Vishakhapatnam Light metro to span 79.9 Km divided into five corridors. 

Proposition 

The 79.9 Km metro was proposed during the TDP regime only. At that time, it had a 140 km span from Anakapalle to Bhogapuram.

The latest plan includes the construction of 79.9 km of a metro line divided into five corridors: 

  1. Line-1: Gajuwaka – Kommadi
  2. Line-2: Gurudwara Junction – Old Post Office
  3. Line-3: Thatichetlapalem – Chinna Waltair (Chinavalteru / RK Beach)
  4. Line-4: Law College Junction – Marikivalasa (8.21 km)
  5. Line-5: Kommadi – Bhogapuram Airport (25.3 km)

Finance 

The proposed line will be built for Rs 14,300 Crore, of which the central and state governments will bear 20 per cent each while the private investors will arrange the remaining.
