KOCHI, INDIA (Metro Rail News): The ridership in Kochi Metro is increasing day by day. The number of passengers has reached 54,504, and that’s why Kochi Metro Rail Ltd. has decided to increase the frequency of trains. The ridership was at its maximum on December 4 when it touched 50,000. As a result, KMRL has decided to reduce the timings between services on Sundays, Mondays and Saturdays. The time between the two services will be 6.15 minutes instead of 7 minutes.
The non-peak hours will be 7.30 minutes instead of 8.15 minutes.

On Sunday, the difference between the two trains would be 9 minutes instead of 10 min during peak and non-peak hours. With the change in frequency, the number of services on Mondays and Saturdays will be 271. Moreover, KMRL has also taken measures to increase the footfalls in the metro, like the discount on metro tickets, free passes on special days.

KMRL is also organizing a Christmas event named ‘Frosty Fest 2021’ from Saturdays at various metro stations.
