Bangalore, India (Metro Rail News): The protest against the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited, related to the land acquisition matter, is still ongoing. The Protesters from the All-Saints Church have argued that BMCRL has acquired 883 sqm of Church’s land on the Richmond Road-Hosur Road Junction.
The rationale behind land acquisition is to carry out the infrastructure work of the underground corridor for the Vellara Junction Metro Station (Kalena Agrahara-Gottigere Line).
Three hundred individuals got together in the Church premises, started a protest at 10:30 am, and continued till 5:30 pm. Protesters raised banners against this illegal acquisition of land by the BMRCL.
According to Ebenezer Prem Kumar, a prominent figure in the protests, BMRCL intends to build a vent for its Vellara Junction Metro Station and issued notification for the same. He also expressed his concern for 152 years old Church. He also proposed an alternative to the BMRCL as they have also acquired 103 m of land, which belongs to the Church’s defence and can be utilized to create structures.
