Lucknow: Dr. E. Sreedharan, Principal Advisor to Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC), who was on a visit to the city today, undertook a review of the various undergoing works of the project and expressed his happiness with the progress of the project.
He took an update of the physical progress of work of the Metro stations including the 255 meter long Mawaiya special span bridge and had a detailed discussion on it. He further stressed on increasing the speed of construction at the stations.
Dr. Sreedharan also took a status update of the system tenders including the progress on the recently awarded tender for rolling stock and signalling. He also focussed on the issue of planning for staff for the Operation & Maintenance (O&M) wing. He said things have to be planned for the O&M in time for commissioning of the priority section as per the target stipulated by the Government. Train Operators (TOs), Station Controllers (SCs) and Maintenance staff have to be in place so that they can be imparted the requisite training in time, he added.
The ‘Metroman’ also took a brief on the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Kanpur Metro and gave his valuable guidance on the subject to make it better. In the evening, he also undertook a physical survey of the Metro sites and paid a visit to Shri Alok Ranjan, Chief Secretary/ Government of Uttar Pradesh and Chairman/LMRC, to apprise him about the developments of the Lucknow Metro project.
Dr. E. Sreedharan expressed his satisfaction over the progress of work of LMRC both for the civil work as well as the systems contract like the rolling stock, signalling, traction, track etc. and communicated his happiness over fast progress of the works by Shri Kumar Keshav, Managing Director, and his team.
