THIRUVANANTHAPURAM (Metro Rail News): Kerala Silverline announced on International Women’s Day, Tuesday, that they are working on enhancing safety arrangements to ensure safe travel for women travelling alone by metro.
To implement this idea surveillance cameras will be fitted inside trains, at stations and in their surroundings. Women guards will also be deployed inside the trains and at stations. Trained guards will be drawn from the police force for the purpose. Women’s helpline numbers will be made available and call made on that number will be answered instantly.
The metro has also decided to provide travel arrangements to home for female travellers.

The stops on Silverline will be networked with other modes of transport for this purpose. Transport services shall be operated for travel from stations to metros and for trips to the stations. K-Rail officials also said that they will arrange single-ticket travel for far-fetched places like Wayanad, to facilitate travel to SilverLine station. Silverline aims to ensure a smooth and safe journey with maximum facilities.
