The Delhi—Ghaziabad—Meerut RRTS Project by National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) progressed as IRCON International Ltd. has successfully commissioned and installed Overhead Equipment (OHE) across 169 Track km (82 Route km) of the Delhi Meerut RRTS Corridor.
This development highlights the IRCON team’s expertise in railway electrification, which is critical in enhancing efficiency and sustainability within the transportation network.

About the Delhi-Meerut RRTS Project
The Delhi-Ghazibad-Meerut RRTS is an 82 km partly operational and under-construction semi-high speed rail corridor connecting Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut. Currently, 55 km of the Delhi Meerut RRTS corridor is operational, while 27.15 km of the route is under construction.

NCRTC has successfully installed a 200-tonne steel span, with 4 girders on the Barapullah flyover to connect Sarai Kale Khan station with the upcoming Jangpura stabling yard on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor. The installation was carefully planned by NCRTC and executed with close coordination of the administration, Public Works Department, and Delhi Traffic Police, ensuring safe and efficient completion.
About Jangpura stabling yard
The Jangpura stabling yard, located close to Sarai Kale Khan station, is being developed for stabling Namo Bharat trains. The viaduct is under construction to provide this connection. For the construction of viaduct in the elevated section of the Namo Bharat corridor, NCRTC usually erects pillars at an average distance of 34 meters. However, in some complex areas where the corridor crosses rivers, bridges, rail crossings, metro corridors, expressways or other such existing structures, it is not practically possible to maintain this distance between pillars. In such areas, special steel spans are used to connect the pillars for the viaduct.
At this location, a drain is flowing, close to which Barapullah flyover is located and Namo Bharat Corridor is crossing both the drain and Barapullah flyover at the same place. To overcome these constraints, this special steel span with 4 girders has been installed to cross over the Barapullah flyover.
About the Steel Span
The length of these steel girders is 40 meters each and the weight is 50 tons each. These 4 steel girders were installed using a two-stage lifting method involving three high-capacity cranes. To ensure minimal disruption to traffic, this challenging task was carried out during the night.
Due to the drain flowing underneath and the Barapullah flyover above it, the steel spans had to be lifted by a crane and placed directly on the designated pillars. To make it possible, the steel girders were lifted from the ground one by one and first placed on the road built on the Barapullah flyover with the help of two cranes on one side of the Barapullah flyover. Then, by lifting girders using two cranes placed on both the sides of the flyover, the girders were installed on the designated pillars one by one.
Additionally, as a safety measure, during this work, alternate power supply arrangements were made to the areas being catered by 220 kV high-tension line passing right above this section in coordination with Delhi Transco Limited. Despite the complexities of the site, NCRTC completed the task while adhering to all safety and engineering standards.
These special steel spans are massive structures, consisting of beams made of structural steel. NCRTC, first manufactures the different segments of structural steel in the factory and then using trailers, brings them to the site during the night to avoid any traffic problems. These parts are then assembled at the site by systematically joining together with the help of a special process. The shape and structure of these steel spans are specially designed to suit all the requirements of construction, installation and usage.
Further Updates
The 4.5 km Delhi section between Sarai Kale Khan and New Ashok Nagar is gearing up for operations, trial runs on this stretch commenced on April 13.
Currently, Namo Bharat trains are operational on 11 stations across the 55 km stretch between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South. The entire corridor is targeted to be operational by 2025.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has taken a significant leap in digital innovation by becoming the first large-scale urban transit system in India to integrate with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).
DMRC was made live on the ONDC Network as a soft launch during November 2024 and now Delhi Metro tickets can be booked through over 10 widely used consumer apps, including Chartr, EaseMyTrip, Google Maps, Highway Delite, Miles & Kilometres (via Telegram), NammaYatri, OneTicket, Rapido, Redbus, Tummoc and Yatri Railways.
This development allows commuters to access metro services without the need to download a dedicated app or navigate through separate digital platforms. With an average daily ridership of 6.5 million passengers, DMRC’s onboarding onto the ONDC Network marks a critical step towards building an interoperable, accessible, and commuter-friendly digital mobility ecosystem.
Through a single-point integration enabled by Technology Service Provider SequelString AI (SAI), DMRC’s ticketing services are now accessible across a wide range of digital touchpoints—mobility apps, travel platforms, journey planners, and even a Telegram bot. This move ensures that metro access is seamlessly embedded into the existing digital routines of commuters.
Benefits of the DMRC Collaboration With the ONDC Network
This integration brings tangible benefits to commuters, both for inter-city and intra-city travel. For instance, an inter-city passenger traveling from Jaipur to Delhi via bus can now use the Redbus app not just to book their bus ticket, but also to purchase a Delhi Metro ticket from ISBT Kashmere Gate to any onward destination within the city—without switching platforms.
Similarly, for intra-city commuters, a user on the Rapido app can plan an entire journey in one go — starting with a bike taxi ride from home to Dhaula Kuan Metro Station, continuing via Delhi Metro to Anand Vihar, and completing the trip with a final bike or cab ride.

Bangalore ( Metro Rail News): Bangalore Metro Phase 2’s Yellow Line witnessed a major milestone as Titagarh Rail Systems Limited ( TRSL) has delivered the 3rd Trainset under the rolling stock contract 4RS-DM. The Yellow Line of Bengaluru Metro Phase 2 spans 19.143 km from RV Road to Bommasandra through 16 stations.
Titagarh dispatched the 6 six coaches of the third trainset in 2 batches from its West Bengal Manufacturing Plant.

In January 2025, Titagarh delivered the first trainset for the Bangalore Metro Yellow Line. Titagarh rolled out the first train set from its manufacturing plant located in Uttarpara, West Bengal.
About 4RS-DM, the rolling stock contract of Bangalore Metro Phase 2
Initially, China’s CRRC Corporation Ltd bagged the rolling stock of Bangalore Metro Phase 2 in February 2019. The contract included the supply and manufacture the 36 trainsets ( 216 coaches) for the yellow and purple lines of Bangalore Metro.
However, CRRC was unable to fulfil the contract’s requirement, and signed a MoU with the Titagarh Rail System.
As per the MoU, CRRC manufactured and supplied one prototype train consisting of 6 coaches for the Yellow Line and one prototype train (6 coaches) Purple Line, and the remaining 204 coaches ( 34 trains) will be manufactured and supplied by Titagarh Rail System.
Future Projection
BMRCL has been planning to conduct the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) inspection soon. An official from BMRCL mentioned that they have submitted all the documents to the CMRS, and they are currently under review. Initially, BMRCL plans to start passenger operations on the Yellow Line with 3 trainsets; however, the frequency of the trains will be 30 minutes, stopping at major stations, including RV Road, Jayadeva Hospital, Central Silk Board, Infosys, and Bommasandra.

The 2,100th coach manufactured by BEML is built for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) via the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
This coach features Grade of Automation Level 4 (GoA4) specifications, which enable it to support fully unattended operations.
This coach is also equipped with an Onboard Condition Monitoring System (OCMS), implemented for the first time in India. The OCMS enables real-time automatic diagnostics of key components, including rail tracks, overhead electrification (OHE), and other onboard systems, to support condition-based maintenance and improve system reliability.
Land Allotment Letter Received By BEML
Additionally, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also handed over the official land allotment letter to BEML chairman and MD Shantanu Roy for setting up a facility for the manufacturing of rolling stocks in Umeria, Raisen district.
Recently, the Madhya Pradesh Government approved the allotment of 60.063 hectares (approximately 148 acres) of land to BEML in Umeria, Raisen district.

Chennai (Metro Rail News): Chennai Metro Phase 2 progressed as Tata Projects Ltd’s TBM Kalvarayan has achieved a breakthrough at Perambur station of Line 3. This line spans 45.813 km between Madhavaram to SIPCOT under TU-01 contract.
Officials from Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), General Consultant and Tata Projects were present during the breakthrough event.
About TBM Kalvarayan
The TBM Kalvarayan (S 1331) is the 7th TBM deployed by Tata Projects Limited under TU-01 contract.
The TBM Kalvarayan (S 1331) started its construction drive from Ayanavaram Station to Perambur Station and constructed a 867 m up-line tunnel, achieving a breakthrough at Perambur South Shaft.
Contract TU-01 Of Chennai Metro Phase 2
In 2021, Tata Projects Limited bagged Contract TU-01 from Chennai Metro Rail Limited ( CMRL) with a 42-month deadline.
The contract included the construction of twin tunnels for the first 9 km underground section of Corridor 3 from Madhavaram Milk Colony to Kelly’s.
Scope of TU01: Construction of approximately 9 km twin bored tunnels (total = 18 km) from the TBM Retrieval Shaft near Venugopal Nagar (of Line-5) to Kellys Station, and the construction of diaphragm walls, entry/exit structures of Madhavaram Milk Colony Station, Murari Hospital Station, Ayanavaram Station and Purasaiwakkam High Road Station, including launching and retrieval shafts at the above stations.
So far, 11 breakthroughs have been achieved in Phase 2 of Chennai Metro.

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project is progressing at a rapid pace near Vadodara, with the Track Slab Laying Car actively placing precast track slabs along the alignment.
Once this phase is completed, the Cement Asphalt Mortar (CAM) Injection Car will follow, injecting cement asphalt mortar between the reinforced concrete (RC) track bed and the track slabs.
Using the advanced Track Slab Laying Car, precast track slabs are being installed with high precision to ensure stability and long-term durability of the track structure, which is essential for high-speed operations.
About the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project
Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Corridor (MAHSR) is an under-construction high-speed rail line spanning 508 km ( 348 km in Gujarat, 04 Km in DNH & 156 km in Maharashtra) between Mumbai and Ahmedabad via 12 stations.
Out of 12 stations planned for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Corridor (MAHSR), 8 stations are located in Gujarat, while the remaining 4 stations are located in Maharashtra.
Latest Update on Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project
In April 2025, NHSRCL launched the 7th Open Web Girder (OWG) bridge spanning 70 meters over two Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) tracks located near Vadodara, Gujarat. This was the 7th steel bridge out of 28 steel bridges planned for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train corridor.

Mumbai (Metro Rail News): The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is gearing up to conduct trial run on Phase 1 of Mumbai Metro Line 9.
About the Trial Run On Mumbai Metro Line 9
The trials will be conducted on the 4.9-km stretch between Dahisar (East) and Kashigaon, which includes four stations. This section was energised on 10 May.

About Line 9 of the Mumbai Metro
Line 9 of the Mumbai Metro is the extension of Line 7 (Red Line ). The under-construction Line 9 spans 11.38 km between Dahisar East and Mira Bhayandar through 7 stations. As per an official’s statement, “96.7 per cent of the work on the entire corridor is complete.”
Latest Update about Mumbai Metro
In April 2025, MMRDA initiated trial runs on the Mandale-Mankhurd stretch of Mumbai Metro Line 2B. The trials are underway on a 5.3 km stretch between Diamond Garden and Mandale, featuring 5 stations.
