Delhi Metro | NGT slams DMRC on use of groundwater without permission

New Delhi: The National Green Tribunal on Wednesday directed Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to stop the extraction of groundwater from borewells that are running illegally in Delhi. The tribunal made it very clear to DMRC that they can only use water from those borewells for which it has permission. A bench headed by Justice Raghavendra S Rathore passed the order after it was informed that Delhi Metro had permission for only 164 borewells. The green panel also directed DMRC to seek permission for water extraction through borewells from the Central Ground Water Authority and inform it after getting the requisite approvals.Advocate Kush Sharma said that “the DMRC has installed illegal borewells right under the nose of authorities, but no action has been taken till date.”Mr. Kush Kalra said that “the DMRC was extracting groundwater instead of using wastewater to wash its trains, resulting in depletion of the water table.”It had contended that if any individual or authorities install a borewell without permission in his house or workplace, the authorities have every right to seal it in no time and slap a fine. DMRC has installed 276 borewells and no action has been taken till now.If we pay attention to RTI reply, they had said DMRC’s water requirement was met through borewells and Delhi Jal Board (DJB) connections. It also said that in order to draw water from the borewells, three to five horsepower pumps were used.
“Groundwater after treatment as per requirement is used for train washing. Borewells have been provided in the depots from where water is sourced. Around 400 to 500 liters of groundwater is used for washing one metro train. The water, after washing of the metro train, is sent to the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP). The treated water is then used for gardening and the excess sent to drains,” the RTI reply had revealed.
According to another RTI response received from the DJB said no permission was granted to the DMRC for digging borewells.

Delhi Metro | Corrupt practices and lack of transparency in recruitment process in DMRC

New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is conducting exam for different posts including lower and higher posts since its inception in 1998. Previously the exams were conducted on paper i.e. written examination. From 3-4 years the organisation has started computer bastes tests (CBT) to recruit manpower for its various ongoing projects. But still lacking in transparency in recruitment process. We have got some complaints from 80- 95 candidates, who has just given Junior Engineer exam from different stream in this year. They have became most victim due to non-specified DMRC  normalization process, which has separated them from final selection. This is very painful for us that our youngster who are future of developing India are not able to get platform due to corrupt practices in recruitment procedure.
About ExamDelhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) conducted exam from 9th to 20th April 2018 for Jr. Engineer (Executive & Non Executive posts in which total 1985 Vacancies are available. There were two papers both held on same day.1st paper -engineering technical and aptitude 120 questions, 90 minutes = 80 marks (0.667 marks per question)2nd paper – English language 60 questions, 45 minutes = 20 marks (0.33 marks per question)And finally paper 1 and paper 2 cumulatively make 80+20=100 marks. So merit to be made from 100 marks.Note Cutoff 28618 001Issues raisedBut when the cut-off list came it brings disappointment among numbers of good and deserving candidates. Who were expecting their name to be come in Merit list, but it does not happen. Reason behind their failure was normalization method, which DMRC is not ready to disclose it. All the three shifts (say for electrical) the papers were different so for maintaining equality in students a normalization method was to be followed. (They did not tell in notification that which normalization formula will be followed however all reputed exams, say GATE etc., clearly explain their formula). Now after the exam DMRC did not give individual response sheet of the candidates and cut off, on inquiry they published cut offs and just common answer sheet by which candidates just guessed their marks .The cut offs which are kind of unacceptable to any not-selected candidate  because many of candidates were expecting their selection and they didn’t not find their names in the list even after scoring very high enough marks (as guessed after seeing that common single answer sheet). It can also be guaranteed that majority of candidates (90%) have been selected from one shift only and other shift candidates rarely find selection (can be proved after RTI reply comes).Increased the particular shift candidates marks inappropriately (approx. 10-12 marks minimum) also decreased the marks of other shift candidates which led the cut off become very high also it reduced the one shift marks too so a huge difference was created between the marks of candidates of two shifts. It can be understood by an example as followed:Let us say shift 1 candidates in 9th April evening: before normalization he/she gets overall 85/100 & after -72/100Candidates of shift on 10th April:  before 72/100    after 85/100 (after getting 13 marks advantage). So on 10th April candidates got their marks increased by 10-13 marks minimum and majority of selected candidates came from that shift only. Here normalizing it by 12 marks means 12/0.66 = 18 questions in paper 1 and 12/0.33 = 36 questions in paper 2. So in paper 2 it is 36/60 questions. When people objected the unacceptable cutoff like for mechanical stream it was 96/100 , then they changed it to 80/100 . How they changed it without any notification.Cooperation from DMRC officialsOn objection DMRC said they are adopting some railway method STANDARD DEVIATION METHOD OF NORMALIZATION however which should be followed only when DMRC adopted railway exam pattern too. Indian railway doesn’t conduct two papers and the pattern which DMRC follows so DMRC should not opt that normalization method and that’s why there is no equality in the process with candidates. When conveyed to DMRC then they say they don’t bother if the consequences are bad they just applied the formula uniformly to all the candidates now candidates say if it is right then DMRC could adopt any random method and saying that their formula says to give 50% marks to a particular shift candidates just like articles are amended if the equality is violated by some random law then similarly DMRC should amend their formula if the kind of equality is not being maintained.Like GATE, the very important exam for PSU jobs and M. Tech. in India, gives the complete normalization method details so DMRC should have told in the notification only that what kind of method they are going to use. But they did not do so.DMRC did not maintain any kind of transparency like:
  • No formalization method was explained.
  • No response sheet of candidates so that they could evaluate their marks giving answer sheet is of no use if candidates don’t see their marked response. However nowadays in every online exam within 2-3 days candidates’ response sheet is published.
  • They just showed score card having normalized and they did not tell how much actual marks a candidate scored so that the exact difference could be found.
Candidates Approach
  • At first they went DMRC but the did not get any respond  from DMRC to the written grievances, mails, telephonic queries, they even refused to meet to the candidates and didn’t allow them to enter in the office.
  • Later they also went to RTIs but their CPIO details did not respond when one calls them.
  • At last they a have approached to legal procedure through which they have been able to send legal notices to DMRC . Awaiting for good response from DMRC.
  • There is also images of RTI and legal notice is provided below.
WhatsApp Image 2018 07 05 at 16.44.12 Verbally grievances had been conveyed JGM/HR of DMRC, written complaint to MD/DMRC , CGM/HR/DMRC  , CVO/DMRC on 27/6/2018 but till now  9/6/2018 no reply has come from DMRC .Grievance Status 1 001 1ConclusionThese candidates are awaiting for positives results. If this will be the condition of recruitment procedure than only corrupt and dishonest candidates will be recruited through nepotism or money power.  This not the first time when candidates are facing problem in recruitment procedure. You can check some of the corrupt recruitment done by DMRC through given link http://savemetroemployees.blogspot.com/ DMRC really needs to work to bring transparency in recruitment procedure so that an honest and hardworking candidate can get better platform to work.

Delhi Metro | Metro ticket vending machine not working, new notes are just excuse

New Delhi: Delhi Metro is well known for its development in world-wide. But how far Delhi Metro is providing best services to commuters? When Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has increased the Metro fare reason for its increment was given to public that it was required in order to maintain Metro condition. For the convenience of commuters DMRC has done a lot but once again does it really benefits the commuters? While travelling to metro many commuters might have been faced problem of long queue in front of ticket counter. When they find alternative option for this, most of them go for ticket vending machine (TVM) but sadly only some of those found in working condition. Then only one option remains that is to stand and wait in queue until their chance come. There is also problem with you will notice that only few of ticket counter are open, others are closed due unavailability of employees or lunch break.metro 8ffff53a c911 11e6 ad67 c7f41c1c9a76Now new issue has been arise with this ticket vending machine.  It is not accepting new currency which is circulating among people after demonetisation.“The ticket vending machines are also not recognizing damaged notes and we are trying to resolve this. Some of the old ticket vending machines (TVMs) at metro stations are still not recognizing new currencies and DMRC is taking up the issue with the vendor,” Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Managing Director Mangu Singh said.GettyImages 689046030Recently new App was launched by Housing and Urban Affairs Secretary Durga Shanker Mishra. This mobile app will be very helpful in finding the nearest metro station, fares for desired travel, information for timings about the first and last train at stations etc. This updated mobile application will give great benefit to the people of the entire Delhi-NCR.Apart from all those beneficial technologies DMRC needs to overcome from number of loopholes which are in their services.

Bangalore Metro | Cost of elevated corridors crosses the budget line

Bengaluru: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) metro elevated corridor project will cross up the budget line. The agenda was first kept in cold for about two years. The Bangalore metro rail project is now coming into light and now believed that this inter-connected corridor project will cost higher. For 95 km inter-connected corridor which includes six elevated corridors. This requires a huge investment minimum Rs 33,600 crore. Recently, the chief minister HD Kumaraswamy incorporated the cost of the project at Rs 15,825 crore. Apparently, this figure will not acquire the cost of land for the corridor that they already had which is about 152 acres of land. The Government estimated Rs 33,600 crore for this huge project which is quite expensive and could cross the budgetThe budget also concludes 100 charging units and that will be most effective for electronic vehicle and proposed 80 electric buses. The government will initiate the project of a hybrid annuity model in which 60% of the cost will bear by the private firms.

Nearly 72% of the total women surveyed said that availability of direct services was very important.with last mile connectivity its easy for commuters to reach their destination and good for DMRC as well, if commuters will get last mile connectivity to there destination they will prefer traveling from metro more.

Mumbai Monorail | MMRDA agrees to pay higher trip cost to LTSE

Mumbai: For Mumbai Monorail Project soon will come to at its final cost. The agreement between Larsen & Turbo Scomi -Engineering and Mumbai Metro Regional Development Authority (MMRDA)MMRDA admitted paying to LTSE higher per -trip cost so as to run the service and some negotiations are at the final stage.LTSE has been arguing for a few years with MMRDA about per trip cost Rs 3,131 is not efficient for the operations and maintenance of monorail system. Earlier the proposal was given to continue its service at a price of 18000 per trip. The LTSE sent its quotation in the O&M bid by IL&FS and it was the lowest bid in April 2008. L&T is the lead partner in the consortium and civil work and socio-economic bring the leading stock as per the contractA final per-trip price is soon be declared for Mumbai monorail services.
As per the sources, MMRDA is agreeing to continue with LTSE. It is only weakening because of court arbitration. The final cost decision taking a lot of time which also leads to a delay in the operations.
Metropolitan commissioner Sanjay Khandare “Our negotiations continue with IL&FS rail and we have asked for break off their cost”
Metropolitan commissioner Sanjay Khandare “Our negotiations continue with IL&FS rail and we have asked for break off their cost”
He also told that It can be extended if IL&FS agree for it with rates quoted and negotiated.Last week RA Rajeev, MMRDA Commission met LTSE representative to sort out differences that lead to delay in monorail services. In the meeting, the plan was LTSE fix the system and then the operation will start fix from October.LTSE has agreed to refurbish the three unfit trains so that they can be put back into service apart from supplying the balance five trains,” said Khandare.LTSE will work on the renovation of three trains till December. As MMRDA have safety certification for  20 km, the service would restart from the first phase and for the second phase, operation commences by mid-2019.

Hyderabad Metro | Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao to inaugurate Metro stretch

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad metro network starting from Ameerpet to LB Nagar will soon be inaugurated by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in August. Earlier in November 2017, the first two stretches were launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Presently, trial runs are going on for the Ameerpet to LB Nagar stretch. If the Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd authorities get all necessary clearance with regards to safety, then this stretch will be inaugurated in August. The date of opening the lines will be fixed on CM gives his availability on a particular date.A senior officer from the metro rail shared that only after successful trial run will the authorities receive safety clearance. Currently, several parameters for passenger safety and train are under evaluation. Post trail run success, the authorities will apply for safety clearance. The CM will be briefed about the progress and all the other aspects. A request will be put forward to sought CM’s time to finalise the inauguration date.If all goes well that this stretch will complete connecting 30km LB Nagar to Miyapur that has 27 stations. As per the plan, a total of 16 stations are there between the Ameerpet and LB Nagar stretch.Interestingly, LB Nagar to Miyapur will soon be the biggest stretch connecting two different ends of the city via metro rail.

The entire project covers 72 km and the conclusion of this line will give the real picture of the usage of the Metro Rail service by the commuters of the city.Looking at the ridership rate, currently 80,000 commuters use the metro daily from the Nagole to Ameerpet and the one from Ameerpet to Miyapur.Metro officials on the other hand are rolling out interesting promotional programmes to encourage people to take Hyderabad Metro. They are also facilitating a switch but ironically numbers are not tallying as per the pattern of use that was projected before the study began. With metro in place, it is expected to bring down peak hour traffic at road level. Unfortunately, the traffic remains the same notwithstanding partial beginning of the Metro Rail services in the city.

Bangalore Metro | Ads to be placed inside six-coach trains by BMRCL

Bangalore: Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) is toying with the idea of placing ads within the trains. The aim is to increase non-operational revenue that will help in support other functions. The ads would be places outside the coaches; instead they will be within the coaches.BMRCL feels that they would not be placing ads on the exteriors as it will shadow the identity of the services offered by metro. They will display advertisement inside the six-coach metro coaches.Chief public relations officer of BMRCL, UA Vasanth Rao shared that it would not be a good idea to place ads in three-car train. The coaches are congested and commuters might not see the ad. Once six-car train coaches start to ply on the network, ridership will increase wherein they will get better ad rates.Currently, BMRCL has only one six-car train with 49 three-car trains getting additional coaches. This will happen once Bharat Earth Movers Ltd (BEML) delivers them by June 2019.Rao also said that they are exploring various advertising models that will not hamper the aesthetic aspect of the train. Women ignored in male dominated Construction Industries in India

It has come to light that some reputed Construction Industries are denying job to female candidates at higher positions on the pretext that ladies can’t be posted at project sites due to the reasons best known to them.
Surprisingly, while our government is making all possible efforts for the upliftment of women in all directions, such companies opt to deny even their normal rights which is a highly anti-social and anti-nation practice. It is really very unfortunate and demoralizing for the women who are confident of their capabilities, prepared to work in tough conditions and accept challenges.  It is a well-known fact that today’s women are doing well in all fields, including space, defence and what not. So, instead of harming the women candidates by denying their right of job, our entrepreneurs should contribute in the society and nation’s interests by way of helping the female candidates in all possible ways.

Construction Industries in India
Recently have an interaction with a lady who had rich experience in Construction industries  with MNC company. When she applied for vacant position in other construction Industries in India. She got reply from HR of company that they don’t appoint ladies at sites. This is not about one company. She heard same reply from other Indian construction companies too. Do you think this kind of discrimination should be there? She is not able to apply to many positions simply because being female candidate. She said that she have exposure to work at project site also with this MNC. Now, it has become very difficult for her to find job in her experienced field. Hope, the CEOs of such companies would understand their responsibility towards nation and the society. On one side our society says that we should uplift ladies. On other this kind of action being done with ladies. Denying job to female candidates on such whimsical grounds is a clear disrespect to our Country where women had been great leader even when India was not completely Independent country.
