DELHI (Metro Rail News): Larsen & Toubro (L&T) recorded a first breakthrough for its TBM DZ1123 at Kishangarh Station’s Crossover for Delhi Metro’s 23.622 Km Silver line.
Commissioning
The TBM was commissioned in April 2023 from Chhattartpur station’s west end to build a 1274 m tunnel for the down line in 8 months. Notably, it is the 2nd breakthrough for the Delhi Metro’s Phase 4 project.
Package DC-09
It runs from Kishsngarh to Saket-G Block, a distance of 6.51 kilometres. The package runs on 4 TBMs deployed by L&T. It was awarded to L&T on March 2022 at an estimated cost of Rs 1428 Crore to be completed within a deadline of 42 months or 3.5 years.
This has four stations in between:
- Chhattarpur,
- Chhattarpur Mandir,
- IGNOU and
- Neb Sarai
It comprises the design & construction of twin tunnels (for both up and down lines) utilising Shield Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs), a Cut and Cover Tunnel box, an Underground Ramp, and the establishment of four Underground stations, namely Chhattarpur, Chhattarpur Mandir, IGNOU, and Neb Sarai. The project also involves the creation of entry/exits and connecting subways linking Aerocity to the Tughlakabad Corridor as part of Phase-IV of the Delhi Mass Rapid Transit System

JICA is financing the Package through a Rs 8, 390 Crore ODA loan with a 42 months deadline.
Silver Line, Delhi Metro
The silver line of the Delhi Metro runs from Delhi Aerocity to Tughlaqabad. It is a 23.62 Km long line with four elevated & 11 underground stations. It has a total of 15 stations as Tughlakabad, Tughlakabad Railway Colony, Anandmayee Marg Junction, Tigri, Khanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Saket G Block, Saket, Lado Sarai, Mehrauli, Kishangar, Masoodpur, Vasant Kunj (Sec-D), Mahipalpur and Delhi Aerocity.
