Delhi (Metro Rail News): Afcons Infrastructure reached a key milestone in Package DC-07 of Delhi Metro’s Golden Line by casting the final tunnel ring segment. A total of 8,327 ring segments were cast by Afcons for this Package which connects Sangam Vihar Station to Sarita Vihar Depot.


Delhi Metro’s Golden Line covers a 23.622 km distance connecting Aerocity – Tughalakabad via 16 stations.


Delhi Metro’s Package DC-07
In January 2022, Afcons Infrastructure secured Package DC-07 from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for Rs 1669.20 crore. This contract has a 42-month deadline.
Afcons collaborated with the Cooper Turner Beck Group to provide segment casting accessories for their casting yard in Mundka. Casting operations at the site commenced in December 2022, and Afcons successfully completed the casting activities over a span of 24 months.
These segments are currently being utilised by 4 tunnel boring machines (TBMs) to construct the twin tunnels for the Golden Line. Each tunnel ring, measuring 1.4 meters in width, consists of five standard segments and one smaller ‘key’ segment.
Afcons Infrastructure’s responsibilities also extend to the construction of three underground stations at Maa Anandmayee Marg, Tughlakabad Railway Colony, and Tughlakabad.
Update on Tunneling Work on Golden Line Under Package DC-07
- Afcons has completed constructing 2 out of 8 tunnels for the Golden Line project.
- Both completed tunnels connect the Air Force TBM Launch Shaft with Maa Anandmayee Marg Station.
- The up-line tunnel was completed in December 2024 using TBM Amrit (Robbins 372).
- In January 2025 the down-line tunnel was completed by TBM Tejas (Herrenknecht S-711).
