GHAZIABAD (Metro Rail News): Chief Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh government, Shri Durga Shanker Mishra, along with Managing Director of NCRTC, Shri Vinay Kumar Singh, visited the 17-km Priority Section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor to assess the progress of implementation. The officials were joined by other senior officers from the government and NCRTC.
The NCRTC has been preparing to commence operations on the Priority Section earlier than the scheduled date of June 2023. The finishing work on all the stations is in an advanced stage of completion. The project aligns with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, with all RRTS trainsets being manufactured in Savli, Gujarat.
Despite many of the technologies being deployed in the project being used for the first time in India and some in the world, they are being implemented under the Make in India initiative. The Chief Secretary complimented the NCRTC team for their efforts in ensuring quality and timely implementation of the project, even during the severe waves of Covid 19.
The team aims to implement the entire corridor of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut ahead of the scheduled target of June 2025. During the inspection of the trainset, the Chief Secretary appreciated the inclusion of commuter-centric features, including luggage racks, wheelchair/stretcher space, comfortable seating, and mobile charging. Soon, the Priority Section will be operational, and India’s first Regional Rail will be available to commuters.
