CHENNAI (Metro Rail News): In the meeting held with union members Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has agreed to look into the issue of the Operation and Maintenance staff who were removed from service.

“The O&M staff who were removed could give an appeal, as per the procedures laid down, and the remaining striking staff has been directed to report to duty on May 2, 2019,” said Chennai Metro Rail in a press release. The CMRL had carried nearly 82,000 commuters despite the strike, the release added.

The CMRL also thanked the services rendered by staff and outsourced personnel for carrying on with the metro services during the strike on Tuesday.

“CMRL is concerned about its staff welfare but will not tolerate any action which will cause inconvenience to our commuters. Service to our Metro customers is supreme.” The press release further indicated the body’s attitude to the sabotage activity in no uncertain terms.
