মুম্বই (মেট্রো রেল নিউজ): যদি কিছু খবর বিশ্বাস করা হয়, তাহলে মুম্বইয়ে 1লা সেপ্টেম্বর থেকে লোকাল ট্রেন শুরু হতে পারে। 2020 সালের মার্চ মাসে, 46 বছরের মধ্যে প্রথমবারের মতো, মুম্বাইয়ের লাইফলাইন সহ বিস্তৃত ভারতীয় রেল নেটওয়ার্কটি করোনভাইরাসের বিস্তার এড়াতে সমস্ত যাত্রীদের জন্য দুই মাসেরও বেশি সময় ধরে সম্পূর্ণ বন্ধ ছিল।
এখন পর্যন্ত, 14ই জুন থেকে মুম্বাই মেট্রোপলিটন অঞ্চলে সীমিত সংখ্যক শহরতলির ট্রেন চলাচল করছে। তবে, শুধুমাত্র অত্যাবশ্যকীয় পরিষেবার সঙ্গে যুক্ত যাত্রীরা এই পরিষেবা ব্যবহার করতে পারবেন।
রাজ্য সরকারের অত্যাবশ্যকীয় পরিষেবার অংশ হিসাবে সরকার 125,000-এর বেশি কর্মচারীকে চিহ্নিত করেছে। কোভিড-পূর্বের দিনগুলিতে মুম্বাই, থানে, পালঘর এবং রায়গড়ের শহরতলির নেটওয়ার্কে প্রতিদিন গড়ে 85 লক্ষ যাত্রী যাতায়াত করতেন।
রাজ্য সরকার সম্প্রতি গণেশ উৎসবের সময় উপ-শহুরে ট্রেন চালানোর সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে এবং আশা করা যায়, সেপ্টেম্বরের মধ্যে এটি সকলের জন্য স্থানীয় ট্রেন নেটওয়ার্ক খুলে দিতে পারে। এই পদক্ষেপকে অর্থনীতিকে আরও অবনতি থেকে বাঁচানোর জন্য একটি প্রতিরক্ষামূলক ঢাল হিসাবে দেখা হচ্ছে।
