NEW DELHI (Metro Rail News): Delhi Metro plans to resume operations after almost more than 2 months. With some new plan such as the commuters would have to maintain social distancing norms & also keep a distance of one metre while travelling in the metro.

Commuters who are sitting in the coaches would have to drop one seat empty. The Delhi Metro Rail has also fixed stickers on the seat with a message to maintain social distancing and this would be monitored by the CCTV cameras.

After executed revised guidelines once it will allow only fifty commuters in a metro coach. The Delhi Metro operates metro trains with 4, 6 and 8 coaches on different routes. As per the new plans, the longest train would have four hundred commuters during a single trip before lockdown, the number are 2,500.

Delhi Metro has 300 trains that conduct 5,000 rounds on multiple lines. It also connects multiple nearby cities to Delhi such as Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram & Bahadurgarh.

Why are metro services put on hold while train and flights have resumed services?

According to insiders, once the Delhi metro begins, it would become difficult to stop crowding. While only those who are stranded in a place other than their hometowns are taking train and flight routes, that won’t be the case once Delhi Metro resumes its operations. People with metro cards will start taking the metro route, which will start to inevitable crowding. This is the reason why Delhi metro service has not yet given a go-ahead.

But the DMRC authorities are awaiting a date soon.

1. Though there are reports that DMRC may get a nod before May 31, it is unlikely that the services will begin before May 31 as only five days are left for lockdown 4.0 to come to an end. However, thinkings are common that the services may start from May 27 as all employees have been asked to report to work today.

2. Once the operations begin, it will be restricted to only essential and government staff.

3. There will be no tokens. Only cardholders will be able to travel.

4. Trains will run with less capacity and for restricted hours.

5. Services can resume in a day’s notice given the preparedness of the DMRC, an official said.
