LUCKNOW (Metro Rail News): India’s first Private train of Indian Railways, Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express, began its operations from Lucknow to New Delhi on October 4, 2019, after it was flagged off by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath along with Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal from Lucknow Railway Station.
“State government is ready to provide land if the Railway board is willing to create more such services in the state. He said that it would be of extreme use to the people of UP if railways can run a semi bullet train from Agra to Varanasi via Lucknow” Said UP CM Shri Yogi Adityanath while inaugurating.
He further added that the state government will bear the cost of land if Railway Board decides to come forward on this,” said the chief minister. There is ample scope for providing similar services between Lucknow-Prayagraj and Lucknow-Gorakhpur.
The state government has set its focus on eco-tourism, IRCTC has opportunities to run toy trains in Katarniaghat and other parts of the state, he said.
The Lucknow junction station bore a vibrant look on Friday morning with saffron-coloured Tejas adorned with matching marigold flowers adding to the hue.
The police band played the tunes of hit songs of yesteryears. “Pujaris” blew the conch shells and passengers jostled to make their way to their reserved coach. CM entered the train and had a word with few passengers before he took to the stage and congratulated the passengers on their maiden journey onboard Tejas.
The train, on its inaugural run, had 389 `paid’ passengers onboard. The crew, most of them being women and trained in hospitality by air hostesses, welcomed passengers with rose flowers and put a `tilak’.
The train, on an inaugural day, did not operate on the scheduled time but was flagged off at around 9.45 am.
