PUNE (Metro Rail News): Pune Metro has declared Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) the lowest bidder for constructing a 4.519 km new viaduct to extend its Purple Line. 

Extension 

The extension aims to connect Pune metro’s Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) metro station to the Nigdi (Bhakti Shakti) metro station.

The scope of the contract entails the Designing and Construction of an Elevated Viaduct of Length 4.519 Kms between PCMC and NIGDI (Bhakti Shakti) on the North-South Corridor of Pune Metro Rail Project- Reach1 – Extension. 

The Metro Stations

The construction of elevated stations at Chinchwad, Akurdi, and Nigdi along the route will be undertaken through a distinct package, with a tender notice currently awaiting issuance.

RVNL’s Bid: Rs. 339 crore

Approval 

The Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs approved the 4.413 Km extension of the Pune metro’s Purple line at an estimated cost of Rs 910.18 Crore. The line is proposed to be extended from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Nigdi.

The proposed expansion will add 4.413 Km to the Pune metro, which already exists at 54.14 Km, divided into three lines, of which 27.15 km is operational.
