As of 19 Oct 2026, Mumbai Metro Line 7 (Red Line) is operational (since 2 Apr 2022). Latest news: 14 Oct 2026.

Mumbai Metro Line 7, the Red Line, is a 16.5 km elevated metro along the Western Express Highway from Dahisar (East) to Gundavali in Andheri East, with 14 stations including the shared Dahisar (East) terminal. MMRDA built it and MMMOCL operates it. It has been fully open since January 2023. Distance-based fares run from ₹10, with ₹30 for the full length.

Why it matters

Line 7 runs parallel to the Western Express Highway, one of Mumbai's most congested roads, and gives the eastern side of the western suburbs, from Dahisar through Borivali East, Kandivali East, Malad East and Goregaon East, a rail option that the Western Railway suburban line does not provide. It links with Line 2A at Dahisar (East) and Line 1 at Gundavali, and is the spine of a longer corridor: Line 9 north to Mira-Bhayandar and Line 7A south to the airport.
