Lucknow ( Metro Rail News): The Public Investment Board (PIB) has approved the Lucknow Metro’s East-West Corridor at Rs. 5801 Crores. The East-West Corridor of Lucknow Metro spans 11.165 km between Charbagh and Vasantkunj as part of Phase 1B of the project.
A meeting of the PIB was convened in Delhi during the first week of May, chaired by the Union Finance Secretary, following the approval of the detailed project report (DPR) for the proposed corridor by the Uttar Pradesh government in March 2024, the Network Planning Group (NPG) granted the necessary clearance on July 9, 2024.
About the East-West Corridor of Lucknow
The East-West Corridor of Lucknow Metro spans 11.165 km from Charbagh to Vasantkunj. Out of 11.165 km the 4.286 km is elevated tracks while the remaining 6.879 km is situated underground.
The 12 stations have been planned on the East-West Corridor of Lucknow Metro. Out of 12 stations, seven stations will be underground and five stations will be elevated.
The East-West Corridor of Lucknow is expected to be completed within five years.
The East-West Corridor is its direct connection with the existing North-South Corridor at Charbagh Metro Station, which will function as an interchange point for passengers moving between these two routes.
The stations on the East-West Corridor have been planned in the sequence mentioned below:
- Charbagh
- Gautam Buddha Marg
- Aminabad
- Pandeyganj
- City Railway Station
- Medical Chauraha
- Chowk (all underground)
- Thakurganj
- Balaganj
- Sarfarazganj
- Moosabagh
- Vasant Kunj (all elevated)
